Here in the islands, standup paddle boards are rapidly gaining in popularity.
Standup surf boards usually run 9' to 12'
Here are two of my longer ones, used for point to point downwind runs.
18-2 and a 16' in my sig. The long ones have a foot-controlled rudder.
Here on Maui, we are blessed with a world class downwinder - the maliko run.
It's ten miles with a steady 25-30 mph tailwind, higher gusts. Swells run 5-20 feet. Mad fun. Takes about 1:15.
