Rob, I run a 16' canoe on the racks that are on my shell (2008 Dbl cab short bed) and seem to do OK. Do you have issues with racks on the cab and the shell twisting against each other? How are those gutter mounts on the paint?

Here in the islands, standup paddle boards are rapidly gaining in popularity.

Standup surf boards usually run 9' to 12'

Here are two of my longer ones, used for point to point downwind runs.

18-2 and a 16' in my sig. The long ones have a foot-controlled rudder.

Here on Maui, we are blessed with a world class downwinder - the maliko run.
It's ten miles with a steady 25-30 mph tailwind, higher gusts. Swells run 5-20 feet. Mad fun. Takes about 1:15.

No problems at all as far as twisting goes. My only issue is that the racks on the cap(slider racks) are a tad bit lower than the racks on my cab. Not a big deal but kind of annoys me asthetically. The gutter mounts aren't too bad on the paint but there are some slight rub marks on the door jams if you look close. I only go with all four bars through the summer for canoes. During the winter I'll roll with just the two rears and a box for skiis.
