Lets see your toolboxes!

Yesterday as I was cleaning up the backseat of my truck so I could have people back there I realized that it would be worthwhile to get a toolbox to keep all my stuff in (as well as future recovery gear). After searching on here and TTORA I think I have decided on the UWS low profile black box. I don't want anything that will obstruct my view or take up a lot of room.

So, post a pic of your box and let us know what kind of box it is ect.

Also, how do toolboxes mount in our bed? I have seen a few that used the bed rails, is that a good idea?

Yes, Please post some pix of your toolboxes from inside and outside.

I have always put toolboxes in the back of my trucks, but I'm undecided about what to do with my 6' bed. I'm thinking about going hard cover with a cargo divider........ but maybe there is a toolbox that will change my mind.

THANKS!!!!!
nothing special on my box
lowes for about $238

mounted with "J" bolts using the rails, no problems and not going anyware
fits the tacoma great and still have about 4 inches below the box to the bed
( and was de-badged just after this pic)
and i will paint it black when it warms up a bit

I have seen your truck on TTORA. Yours is the one that made Me want the low profile UWS
How far down does the UWS box go down into the bed?
i have recently thought about getting one too, cause my cab is full of crap all over. right now, just about everything fits behind the back seats, but not for long. i just dont want to lose my bed space, only bad thing about having a double cab.
Now, I shall summon thee almighty......

:bump:
I have about 6" from the bottom of the truck box to the bed.

If you use the J hooks to mount the box you could have the box off in under a minute... Easily.

I have a Husky Low profile box for the midsize truck but wouldn't recommend it to you so I'm not even going to post pics. THe lid rattles on it when I have my rear window open, it leaked from the day I bought it and I had to reseal it with silicone, and it's really not deep enough. Wish I had gone with UWS and probably will eventually

mine are mounted like osomo2

and yep they can be removed but then the box is going to look like hell with it all bent up ! i used lock nuts and they are not coming loose, the rails would have to be forced off as the box covers some mounting screws,
so like anything else if a punk wants it he will get it , but this is a pretty strong suggestion not to try
if someone tried that to get it off i would just ask the store for security camera footage and figure someone would look pretty hard at them and make him slightly uncomfortable
if it happened at home i would call the cops and they could remove what was left of him
Heres a shot of a Trail Boss brand low profile. I like it as it still has room underneath for longer objects and room on the sides for longer objects.
