Did you meant to say "oil smoke"?
Never seen an engine smokes oil before, video please! 🤣🤣
Check the valve cover bolts, make sure they are nice and tight. If they are tight, then you might consider replacing the gasket; otherwise, clean off the oil and keep an eye on it.

Lol brain and fingers weren’t working right. Engine compartment was smoking on startup.

No questions about it, vcg is being replaced.

I just started on it an hour ago. I think I need more stuff done to if. 2 new boots for the steering links/arms, possibly a new radiator (doesn’t need one yet but it’s getting there.)

Ended up ordering a denso radiator, felpro vcg, moog steering boots off of amazon. I did not like what advance or autozone had. I was going to order thorough rock auto but prime makes returns a breeze (big hunking radiator) so I stuck that route.

Sprayed the piss underneath the compressor and behind the block/steering pump. Removed a ton of build up. It was pretty gross. I’m going to brush the piss around the the front vcg tomorrow b/c that’s all I can do till the boots show up later afternoon. The rest be delivered on Wednesday but can’t finish till Saturday.

I’m being lazy and will save the rear vcg for a later date .

It’s a motor out kinda job - no way around it messing with the chains and cams. to think I saved the rear vcg for later - the back isn’t messed up I’m guessing and hoping. I’m roll with it b/c I’m adventurous. We’ll see. I’ll update if the motor blows up.

Maybe you can tighten the gear back down, give that a try. Still would be a good idea to replace the gear for long term, but at least you won't have to worry about the gear coming off until you can get that done!

Oops, I was looking up something else! Here you go; not the best quality but it will give you some idea:

There is no way to tighten it - no room. 3/8” max. Wish I could. Edit, there’s room after I move it over. The cam does not wobble- has absolutely no movement when I loosen the cam with a wrench. Which confuses me on why the hell that part is loosened. I suspect it broken off some where.

In the video, They are able to do that b/c the cylinders are on the driver and passenger side. Mines facing front and rear. Front wheel drive. It’s an engine out fix. thx for that video, it was a really good video.
