To keep a forgetful person from licking the keys in the ignition (and probably other reasons) most cars (including the Gen. 6 Camry will not allow you to lock the doors via remote when the car is running (i.e. keys in ignition).

With my remote start, I can :whatwhat:
Yes, this is true. Gen. 5 Also have this feature. Have you tried to use the spare key?

1.Start the car
2.Close the door
3.Lock it with the emergency key
4.MAKE SURE SOMEONES IN THE CAR BEFORE DOING THIS!!!!!(I've tried to do this)
Don't know about Canada, but in most of the States, it is illegal to leave an unattended car running, locked or otherwise. In Fort Worth, Texas, the police had to set up a special detail after more than 20 cars were stolen from driveways while idling in one week.
Hahah - reminds me of that time I almost locked my keys in the car. I hit the button on the door handle to lock it and the car started bitching. I started laughing because it reminded me of my girlfirend. :(
get a remote start for the car, will start the car and keep the doors locked
Yea, that works. You have to lock teh car before you start it. But, won't that still kindof illegal???
no its not illegal... mine is a 2 way alarm with remote start, it starts the car and keeps the alarm active while the car is on, also pages u if someone tries to mess with ur car. when i lived in Kansas it was very handy during the winter months, and also the hot humid summers
Can you get a Toyota Remote Starter to work with the 07 Camry's Keyless entry system? In the manual, it showed the traditional key as the remote starter.
My wife's 06 Rav4 has remote start and it is all built into one key.
Once you have the remote start kit installed you'd just use your existing key fob to start it. If i remember right, press lock three times holding it down the third time until it starts. Crappy part is the engine shuts off when you press unlock to get into the car.

It's 20something outside at the moment... which makes it sound like a damn good option...
the aftermarket ones are better and offer better security, mine doesnt shut off unless i shut it off from the remote or try to "steal" the car... i just put the key in the ignition and depress the brake and im ready 2 go.

LOL it's -6 here right now and I don't have remote start. Thank god I park in the garage wherever I go. It would still be nice to have remote start... hmm... :D
Technically, it is illegal (remote start or not) to leave the car idling without someone in it (in most states).

I am so glad I got the remote start. Regardless of it shutting off when you unlock the door, I can go outside to a warm car and warm leather seats. :whatwhat:
