I went on a road trip down the OR and CA coast, east through AZ, NM, and Texas. I then headed north to CO, WY, UT, ID, OR, and back hime to WA State. It was a fantastic 17 day trip and I got to see a lot of family, friends and great sites. The first part was to SoCal for Toyotafest 2021.
Crossing into CA from OR.

I went through the Redwood Forrest in Northern CA.

I've actually had longer road trips in this car. I had a 9400 mile trip to Nova Scotia and back, an 8600 mile trip to Key West Florida and back, and a 6500 mile trip to Alaska and back.

Little Tujunga Canyon Road south of Santa Clarita, CA. This canyon road was an amazing drive and I heard about it in Car & Driver magazine!

I headed into LA and went to the Rams new stadium. I was able to go on a tour and see the entire stadium and it was awesome! Go RAMS!!! It was a great experience. I can't wait to go to a game this season. I have tickets to the game against the Lions. Every game is almost sold out already so I'm glad I didn't wait to buy tickets.

The nose bleed section....
One advantage, less beer getting spilled on you from above :)

I went to see two CFL game here to make my gf at the time happy she was a diehard Winnipeg Blue Bombers fan. I think it was in 2005 and the season opener was against my Montreal Alouettes So to make her happy I went to the Ticket booth when sale started and said what's the best tickets you have for 2? She said. I have 2 seats left in the Alumni lounge $100 each. So I took them. This was not close to... this was as dangerous as enemy territory gets. And I can't hide my emotions easily... After 2nd half Montreal was winning I thought I wouldn't make it out alive LOL but Winnipeg won the game so all ended well. When the folks there asked why a Montreal fan would be there of all the places and found out it was to make her happy since she's a real Blue and Gold fan and they won anyway it just became a cool funny story for everyone there and I walked out alive.:)

I went to several games in ST Louis too. It was always a fun time. I go see the Rams play most years in Seattle but this will be fun in the new stadium. I'm in the upper deck for this game but even those are good seats the way the stadium is designed. The game was almost sold out so there weren't a lot of seats left. It will be fun though just for the experience of the new stadium. My seats are just above this level but around the 15 yard line.

The next day was Toyotafest and it was once again a fun time seeing so many Toyotas and meeting people face to face that I only knew online. Here are a few of the Corollas and other cars in my area.

It was easy to know who owned this Corolla iM!

Great pics, including ToyotaFest. Did you happen to see very many Echos there? I'm considering driving there from the Midwest in 2022 to attend with the 01 with 358 K miles. If it's running the same then as is it now, it should make it there and back. Being 20 yrs old it's not a pretty car but it runs like the Energizer bunny. It's not my primary car anymore so if it doesn't make it there and back I still got something to drive whenever I get home. According to Google it's 2160 miles one way and the most recent road trip (round trip) was about a thousand miles with no issues.

I don't recall seeing an Echo but there could have been 1-2 there. I did see several Tercels and older Corollas. I would imagine it would make it just fine.

After Toyotafest I head east through the mountains and toward the Salton Sea. There was a great road that I wanted to drive that I saw in Car & Driver. It was a great drive on Borrego Salton Sea Way (S22) from Borrego Springs to the Salton Sea. I spent the night in Blythe, CA and went north on US 95 up through Lake Havesu City, AZ. I then went west on I40 a short distance and then took a drive on historic Route 66.

Oatman, AZ was a slice out of the old west. If the road hadn't been paved it could have been 1870.
340438

The pass was beautiful after Oatman, AZ. Anyone driving along I-40 around Kingman, AZ needs to take this route instead.
340439

At the end of the road there was this sign, pretty cool since I've also driven the Tail Of The Dragon in Tennessee. This was like a smaller version but also a lot of fun.

After that I drove down to Phoenix, AZ via US 93. I visited my cousin and the drove north on AZ SR87 to Payson, AZ. I then headed east on AZ SR260 to Show Low, AZ where I stayed the night. I was going to go up through Globe, AZ but as you can see there was a fire and that route was closed. The temp went from 107F in Phoenix to 74F in Show Low! Another reason to love the mountains!

I weaved my way through the central mountains of AZ and into New Mexico. The 7k'-8k' elevation of this area is beautiful in the mountains.

I drove some new back roads to my moms house south of Albuquerque and enjoyed a beautiful NM sunset. I was able to spend some time with friends and my mom before heading east to Dallas, TX.
