planning on taking the 88 toyota camry on a road trip prob 2-3 hrs long across beltways nd stuff just wondering if thats a good idea? i think its fine cause engine is working well except for starting up on cold mornings but thats bout it.

should be fine man i used to take my 89 v6 up to la and back (thats about couple hours) with no probs... just makes sure u check all your fluids before ya head out

yeah just check for any leaks b4 u leave. i took my 88 camry on a 6hr drive to sf b4 it did fine

ya my camry does have some oil leaks but its not critical. thx for the put in. goin fishing hopefully friday or sat in MD just need to fix my headlight issues

My 88 I4 auto is dubbed "The I-78 Express"

I do a weekly roundtrips between PA & NYC with mine.

I change my oil every 2,500 miles, but this is my preference.

If you stay on top of the maintenance and fluids, you're good to go.

like 4 years ago or so, i took my 96 camry le on 6-12 hour drives several times a year, got 34-38mpg on some of the trips.

I drive from SD to LA on a weekly basis in my 89 and it still runs like a champ. I change the oil every 2-3K and do all the regular maintenance. I would definitely take this car on a cross country trip because its comfortable, reliable, and i know it sounds strange for a camry, fun to drive.
