To keep it short and sweet:
  • Got the car. Oil and trans fluid were pitch black
  • Had oil, trans fluid and filter changed
  • Everything worked better
  • Found out that the IDIOT owner, didn't get the Daytime Running Light Service Bulletin done (back in 2003-2006)
  • So at some (RANDOM, cold degree) the headlights turn on, and kill the battery
  • Solution? $500-ish to solve. Car isn't worth that
  • Instead: I disconnect the negative battery cable, and ONLY have to in winter
  • Notice that trans shift pattern, reverts back to "pitch black" pattern
  • Consistently get 19-24 mpg. Which is weird, when I have gotten 30 mpg
  • Suspect shift solenoid gone bad, ask trans shop
  • 01/12/2021... Trans shop uses OBD plug. Only way to make the comp/trans "re-learn" the shift pattern, is to disconnect the battery for 5 minutes.
  • W. T. F?!

Has anyone been able to fix their DRL (BS), without spending $500-ish?! Maybe cut and ground the wire that shows "external temp" in the dash? I don't care about DRL, and I don't care to know what the external temp is, in my car! I just want the mileage!

Don't need to test the relay... It's the infamous one, ending with 2030. Thanks for the link! I'm definitely going to do the first step: disable them all together! Hopefully I caught this in time.
