Looking for a new set of rims... black steelies but want 17s

I dont want to have to trim my brakes to make a 16" rim fit. But I cannot find any makers like pro comp etc that make a black steel rim in 17s. Am I just being an idiot? I searched as well and only found 16" wheelers steelies please let me know if there are 17s out there.

Do you not like the Wheelers style or what? Cragar Soft 8s will fit as well. You will be hard pressed to find a 17" steel wheel.
I like them they are nice... but to be honest i like more of the square hole like these pro comps. But I dont want to have to do any brake trimming.

You could get 3-4 stock Taco spares and then you have 4 17" steelies that you dont have to trim or grind ofr... or
You could get 4 of the FJ stock 17" steelies

check out the FJ forums guys sell them or you could probly find them at a deelership...

that's true although they are pretty narrow. depending on the tire size, you may get some rubbing issues on the uca.
if you do decide to go with the stock doughnuts that come on a FJ or taco be aware that they are very ugly...

you say ugly, i say tough.
i'd rock those fj steelies before the 17's that came on my sport.
ugly/tough...I thought the two words were interchangeable(just kiding). I guess it would be up to him if he wanted them or not. I wouldnt mind having them at all as an extra set of wheels and tires...like having a set of wheels and tires for the street, then having another set with some mud terrain tires...let me wake up from my dream

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder... but i didnt want to start off my 2 cents with...

"THE UGLY APPROACH is..."
and... i provided a picture of the so called uglyness... so it kinda speaks for it self eh?
But if they are for wheeling... you cant beat them... and you can put your 285s on them...

Question...
Why would you want 17" steelies when 16"s give you more tire selections and cheaper prices per tire compared to the 17"s???
the shaving of the calipers is REALLY easy! i bought a standard file from OSH and it took me about 15 min. for each side. i got my KMC XD705 (minus the plastic camo rims) in 17" to fit. check my Car Domain link if you wanna see...
Wheelers steelies are made to clear the caliper in 16" i thought.
i have those. you can just run 1/4" wheel spacers.
got any larger pics of your truck?
You should have no problem tracking down a set of 17's. I looked at a few sets of 17 in steels but decided to go down to a 16 inch rim for winter tires and they mounted just fine with a fair amount of room left for the calipers. Let me know if you need a few names or brands, i think i still have them on file.

Yea I would appreciate it if you could shoot me over some brand names... Help me a lot with my quest to find my new rims :D

P.S. Everybody... i already got the tires figured out. Cooper STT's and I get them at a crazy good price.

The FJ 17"steelies are offset about 3/4" to the outside compared to the stock Taco wheels both alloy and steel. So there is a lot more clearance than stock to the uca's.
I put them on my 07' with 245/70-17" snows. I'll try and post a pic. They look good with the current 16" steel wheel centers. The FJ centers suck, very poor design for fitting and don't look as good IMO.http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/dan

I've got revos on FJ steelies for the winter months. Great fit and they look good IMO.

Now if you want to talk ugly...? Look into moto-metals.....IMO.:ugh3:

4WP carries 17" black steelies, I don't know what the exact specs are or if they would even fit on our tacos.
I had an old mag with a 4 page 4WP ad in it and listed those wheels. I'll try to find it to see who makes those wheels.
