Loss of Power Help Please

89 SR5 3.0. Very low power , runs smooth , no knocks or pinging , no transmission slipping , just VERY slow acceleration, Replaced fuel filter and checked timing belt tension to verify it did'nt jump time.

Is your TPS working correctly? If so bump the timing up to 12 - 14 degrees BTDC.
Will advancing the timing just mask the problem or is this troubleshooting?

Both. The TPS must be working correctly or you can't accurately set the timing. Toyota calls for the timing to be 10 degrees BTDC. At that setting the engine is sluggish. Advancing the timing a bit makes the engine much more responsive.
downloaded code 42 , vehicle speed sensor signal circut. could that cause this? I have a print but how can I read the circuit?
