I ordered a Magnaflow 12586 (5x11x22 o/c) and I put it on this weekend. I welded it in place of the stock muffler, I did all the work myself to save money and because I am too picky to let most people touch my stuff. It took about an hour and a half and I am very pleased with the fit and the sound. Its nice and quiet at idle but has a great rumble when you hit the gas. And its not very loud under normal driving conditions, just loud enough to let you know its there.

I think I might remove my rear cats in a few weeks. I want to give the muffler plenty of time to break in before I touch anything else.

This install went really well. I normally screw up something at least once no matter how big or small the project is. I did run out of pipe, but I happened to come across some extra lying around to finish the job.

A few pics of the finished products and one of my turndown tip behind the axle.

And a few vids. Any requests, just let me know. I will try and get the pics or videos of whatever you want.

Man, sounds like I'm in my own truck! You did the same as me except I have the 12576 (center in/out). Good for you welding it on yourself.

It is a turndown. Behind the axle the exhaust just flows out of a more discrete tip.

Thanks for the compliments, guys! I am really happy with the sound. I searched for what seemed like days trying to find reviews of mufflers that would be just right for me. I finally decided just to go ahead and try it.

Still thinking about removing my rear two catalytic converters, though. I think it would help on gas mileage and give the truck a more aggressive sound. Has anyone tried that combination yet?

Yes it is throatier than stock, but not raspy at all. It has a nice tone it the cab when you get on the throttle a little, but under normal driving it is not very noticeable. I will try and get a sound clip later today.

I had mine removed. It definitely made it louder, but it made it a tad bit raspy too, mainly under WOT. But a lot of that could be my muffler:confused:

Thats what I meant. That is a steal, I got mine for $81 shipped.

Ok I got a video of it with the camera sitting behind the truck on the ground. Sorry for the crappy quality, all I have is a cell phone.

Just kidding! That was my '73 Beetle. She was a little grumpy, she was cold.

Seriously, this is the truck. Its not as raspy as it sounds in the video, though.

Can anybody figure out what that sound is after I rev it. It sounds like a pulley vibrating. Is this normal and I just never noticed it?

That really does sound exactly like my truck. Did you steal it?

Where did you get the muffler? I paid the same price ($81) you did from Hottexhaust.com.

It does sound like that in that video, but I just went outside and crawled under the truck and listened everywhere while I had the truck sitting at about 1800 rpms. It taps non-stop at this rpm when there is no load on the truck.

While I was under the truck, it sounds like it was coming from one of the new manifolds I a had replaced under warranty. Read that thread here. I put my ear close to the front cats with the truck running and it is definately coming from the passenger manifold, but I think a little from the driver's manifold.

This is a video I just made. Its kinda hard to tell but the tapping is getting louder and softer in the video because I am at first holding the phone under the passenger door, then moving to passenger engine compartment, then passenger wheel well, then walking in front of the truck to put the phone under the driver's door.

Yeah I got it from there. They have a monthly discount every month, ALL month, and it never changes!

My brother and I checked it out tonight and we both think it is either something caught in the lower portion of the manifold (between the 2 cats) or the dealership used an old/bad gasket that is rattling in the flange. The sound is definately coming from that area and it is definately something loose.
