Sup guys...

I have a 1998 XLE V6 Camry.. My exhaust cat recently decided to die and I'm thinking about buying a MagnaFlow High-Flow Cat, same pipe diameter as stock, 2.25"...

I'm looking at part #'s 94305 and 94315...

The ony difference between them is that one says "w/Air Tube"... The other one does not include the "Air Tube"...

What is this "air tube" and which one should I buy..?? Thanks for the help...

here is the site for those who are too lazy to look it up

magnaflow explains the with air method here:
http://www.car-sound.com/04basics/04converter.asp

basically the o2 from the w/air part is a catylist and helps with the oxidation/reduction process
OK, so this covers the "What it is..."..

Would it make a difference in performance to get one with air or without air..??

Which one should I get for my V6 Camry..?? My stock cat surely didn't have an air tube... Should I keep it like that, or should I get the one with the extra goodie..??

If you want to pass a non CA/NY emessions, and retain a pre-cat as your cat you want:
50005
If you want a real cat you want:
94006
94006 does not fit my stock pipe which is 2.25"... 94006 is 2.5"... That's why I said 94305...

I'm not sure what 50005 is though...

I live in Panama in Central America, there are NO emissions tests AT ALL...

Unless your cat is plugged no you won't. It'll only change it at very high rpm. Toyota cats are good...

Sorry to bother U... Is this 94006 a High-Flow Cat...??

Another thing.. The fact of it being 2.5" and my pipe being 2.25" won't affect performance..?? Won't I lose power..??

Thanks..

No. If you were to get a wider y-pipe you would get a gain in hp, but it would not be very noticeable.

No it won't hurt. What you think all the factory joints are matched? LoL!

In truth you can argue it may help it a microscopic amount because steps up help prevent reversion. The step down. So small it still likely won't hurt. Eventually it'll cake with carbon anyways. But you could easily run a grinder on the inside of the cat exit if you want to smoothe it some. Just leave enough of a bevel to weld too.

Single digit gains. Resonator is nothing mroe than an expencive OEM glasspack. Doesn't cost you anything really.

Without ther esonator, it'll sound asstastic to most people because there will be a raspy sound, especially on over-runs.

sorry to steal ur thread =P
but umm since we're talking about the sound and stuff....

a neon passed by and it sounded like a jet. there was no raspy sound to it at all. it was very low and kinda loud. not too loud tho.. actually it sounds like a jet engine but the frequency is much lower. i guess i could describe the sound as pure ? lol. it was a really smooth sound

ok so.. any ideas on what he did ?

Probaby has the higher displacement engine (2.4L), and maybe turbo. Turbo cars with a TB exhaust usually sound really powerful and clean.

Anyone here who actually has put a new higher flowing catalytic converter and/or a high-flow resonator on the 1MZFE V6? My V6 Coupe has the original 13 year old exhaust piping and I'm guessing it's pretty clogged and needs replacing. Would it be worth it to replace these parts with aftermarket stuff or just use OEM parts?

I hope someone can answer because I'm ordering a bunch of new parts for my car for a huge maintenance install as soon as it gets above freezing.

:D
