its nice to find a good car forum with good information that isn't dead. that being said, hi. i'm dan. i drive an automatic '93 red camry (5sfe) that i bought a month ago for about 3 grand. at 93 k miles i think its a good deal.
anyway, down to the stuff- my mother also happens to have a 5sfe camry, from '95. unfortunately for me, her car is a bit faster. i have no idea what the actual numbers are, but you can definately feel the torque difference from the driver's seat. had a family friend who is also a mechanic look through it, he didn't think anything was wrong with it though. so i wonder, is there any real reason why my mom's stock car is better preformance wise? they're both gen3 cars so i wouldn't think they'd be this far off. my friend's 800 $ bmw beat me anyway, so what are some good, relatively cheap mods to do to my car to give it some extra power? ive already changed the oil and filter, and put in new spark plugs and wires. a trd cai is sitting in a box next to me waiting to be installed. maybe i'll turn into a nice sleeper car ; )

TRD cai? I didn't know they made one. I suggest a turbo or a supercharger.

But you have to remember, BMW's are one of the most perfectly made cars around. Squeezing 666hp out of a small Inline-Six. They can do some insane stuff with a 4cyl. And near perfect 50/50 weight balance :jerkit:

Does your mom by chance have a V6? Cause that might be a dead give away on why she is faster.

Otherwise, I can do it for a small fee of $4000 plus the coast of parts


*Don't take anyones advice on getting short-ram intakes or cold air intakes. They will both cause power loss.

I think you mean 333hp from the S54 I6 motor from the M3. Whats really impresive is the new V10 from the E60 M5, 507hp from 5.0 litres NA and a 8,000 Rpm redline.

i wish my mom's engine was the 3.0 so i could steal it in the middle of the night.
so i just need to come up with 4 grand to get at supercharger, eh? the only one ive seen was the one from ripp mods. are there any others out there?

i would invest in a forced induction as well but i dunno with my engine at 78k seems like every week there is an issue that needs to be fixed.

If you are really serious about building a good engine, and don't just want power fast, then take your time. Build the internals first, work on other things like exhaust, and heads.

Do you really think Wraith and Tony got their engines to where they are just by adding a turbo?

You have to start from the bottom up. Every little mod counts. And when you finally do put a charger on your engine, you will see much better results.
