Probably just material from the wear-in and the magnet did its job. It would surprise me to...but probably nothing to be too concerned with.metal for sure. it was stuck to the magnet.
Yep, when I did mine the plug had the "Fuzz" and a thick metal like paste all over the magnet.Don't worry about it, it's a left-over cutting from when the housing was machined or the holes tapped. I specialize in gears at my job, and it's not uncommon. (not to sure about in tacomas though) A failure in the diff won't create that sort of peice anyway, at least not without a lot of other metal flakes / chunks. "Fuzz" on the magnet plug is normal too.
Did you check your u-joints? With only a couple tiny metal chunks on the drain plug magnet, you might be barking up the wrong tree. Not a bad deal on the axle though.
