So i go to Costco and get 4 bf all terrains 235/85/16's. turns out one is defective and they can't seem to find another one... In the meantime, i'm running my 265 70 16 spare (in the back). I know i cant use 4by since it will tear the diff case, but am i damaging the differential?

Thats an inch difference in diameter... I'd probably wouldn't do it on my truck. But I'm not really sure what one side of an axel sitting 0.5 inches lower would do. My guess is probably just cause funny tire wear.
Didn't someone on hear post about that? Saying if you HAVE to mismatch tires like that to make sure the drive wheels are the same? So in this case put the spare on the front?
I would make since that the only damage would be tire wear. The truck is going to "think" it is just in a turn since the larger wheel will turn slower, just like in the outside of a turn.

yeah, i hsve some serious mileage to do so i got costco to install one of the old tires. front and back wont match, but it'l be better than it was....
Wow the sams and coscos here will not even install a different tire than what the door jam sticker says.

The ones here (NorCal) give you a 10% difference in size, I think. I hope thats the case, because when I put my XRunner rims on my non-X, the tires are going to be a size bigger than XRunners, but the same as a stock 15" tire. Whew, I'm getting confused just thinking about it!
here in ontario it's 3% difference in size.... they will however install the tire to the rim, not the rim to the truck however..... basically, i'm installing the rims to the truck outside in the rain.:kookoo:
