Mod the flasher unit to not Fast-blink?

1787 Views 10 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  Grayguy
Ok, When shaved my front bumper 1.5 years ago, I obviously got rid of the front signals. Since then, my car does the fast blink thing. Does any one know what wire/connector thingy I need to cut in the flasher unit to get it to stop?

resistor across the front termals. what ohm no idea but your going to need high wattage.

now i think about it a resistor that was made for a led set up across that should fix it.
You could put your front blinkers back in.

I know that I sound like an ass but how do you get away with not having legal blinkers?
Electronic blinker from Autozone, Pep Boys, etc.

First of all...it would be pretty dumb to un-do the about 15-20 hours of body work that went into shaving...

Secondly, The front markers have been converted to signals, and that keeps the popo off my back.

So what kind of resistor? one from some kind of LED?
how did u make the front markers to signals ...?
I did the same thing with my mom's prizm. The bumper signals gave in and I felt lazy to find the problem (not fuse or Bulb) so I juts wired up the marker lights as signals. I do know you need a resistor, but I've been trying to figure out for months what type i need.
In essence, by wiring up your front markers as turn signals instead, havn't you just moved the bulb basically to another location? Perhpas the resistance/wattage of the marker bulb is lower than that of the original front signal, so maybe change the bulbs if you can, to that spec of the original signals.
It's just i dont get why if you removed the old signals, and made your markers as indicators, why there should be any fast blink.
Try a 6-ohm, 50W resistor in a circuit that used an 1156 bulb.

Well, before I shaved the lights, I did that thing where you make the markers flash when the fronts don't, and visa versa. Not really sure what you call it, but I got the info to do it from this forum, and some one made a wiring diagram for it. Maybe if I can find that, and reverse it, then the fast blink will stop...?
