Mods for my corolla... NEED HELP!!

1317 Views 9 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Flashmn
Okay, i'm driving one of my parent's cars, a 1991 Corolla 4-door...

Just to make it look a lil better, i wanna put on some Velox VX8 rims, a bodykit, a header, a CAI, some exhaust work, and maybe a few other tweaks... Nothing really fancy or expensive...

I'm wondering... What's better for the CAI? an AEM or a K&N??

Header: Pacesetter or MimoUSA??

Bodykit: Need advice... I see that Xenon has some good products... also wondering if i could use the bodykit that's made for a Geo Prizm or an early 90s Nissan Sentra??

Exhaust... Magnaflow, Borla, HKS, KYO, Tanabe, Tuner FX, Apexi, Flowtech, or Ansa?? also wondering what it would sound like if i just took the muffler off and called it a day

I don't want it too loud... and these mods would be done in the next few months...

Thanx in advance for the help...

-There are no CAI's for your car that I know of, you'll have to make it custom if you want one. I've seen a few intakes here and there, but no CAI's that I remember.

-Pacesetter always gets a bad rep.. mimoUSA, never heard of them, get either one as there aren't many brands of headers for the 4AFE motor (make sure it IS for a 4AFE motor or it won't fit)

-There really aren't any body kits that you can buy for the 4dr cars, you'll see a pic here and there but they've been discontinued for a long time. As for fitting the body kit from another car, you'll never know till you buy it, try fitting it and figure out it doesn't fit; do you really wanna spend the money for nothing? :dunno:

-exhaust brand won't really matter, you'll only make 2-3hp extra from either one, it just depends on how loud you want the car to be and how much you want to spend for those 2-3hp. :)

you got a Corolla, not a Civic; otherwise you could buy accessories for it at your local 7-11.
yeah, that's the bad thing about a corolla... Can't find shit for it... hell, i got tired of lookin for a nice looking shifter handle (although i only have a 3-speed auto) and a handbrake handle, so i took the s.o.b. off, went to the local Home Depot, got some Rustoleum chrome paint... you get the idea... looks pretty good... more silver-chrome than true chrome...

I am wondering, though, how it would sound without a muffler... any ideas?? I don't want the cops stopping me for having it too loud... I mean, it'd be funny if Barney Fife is sittin in his police car eating his donut and drinkin his coffee and i drive by fast enough that i scare the shit outta him... LMAO
i say take it off. it sounds pretty good. i got nothing but compliments from everyone in a five mile radius when i took mine off.
 five mile radius..

LMAO :lol: yeah, but i don't want it too loud... and also wondering about takin it off, cuz last night i looked under there, and if i take it off, then imma have hot exhaust running right by the gas tank... i don't think i wanna end up in a fireball......
leave it on. it sounds like shit and is completely useless. you dont want to be that guy. loud is not cool
I wouldnt mod my parents car with a single cent.

Thats a good thing, atleast everybody doesnt have a carbon copy of your car.
dude, my parents said i can do whatever i want with it. i'm not wanting to do much with it, cuz it's only a 1.6L 4a-fe... i am going to be driving the '85 Oldsmobile 442 soon... if the insurance wasn't $500 per month for the 2006 Daytona Charger alone, then i'd be driving all 3!
