Muffler only for 4.7L '05 CrewCab

I'm looking for advice from you guys that've done this to their truck. I'm looking to add a muffler to my stock crewcab (except for 20" Enkei wheels) welded that will give me a good roar, without being annoying, no drone, and no loss of back pressure/power, or loss in MPGS.

I had a previous '01 AccessCab to which I added long tube headers, high flow cats, and a borla. It was a dog to move. Busted a highflow cat (the whole header system was good but a piece of sheeet on quality) and I replaced them with the stock cats. It took off like crazy.

The exahust upgrades didn't seem to agree with my truck. I went from getting 14MPGs to 12. I had some leaks and took care of those but to no avail. I've been told that these engines don't like any pipe size bigger than stock.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Go with a 18" Magnaflow

Just did this on my '03 Access Cab with same engine. Man what a difference in sound! Also put on a Magnaflow tip to get rid of the squirly downturned Yota stock tip. They did an inside weld, so it looks factory.

Bought both from Performance Peddler for $83 including shipping. Local muffler shop charged me $70 to install.

No drone at all, almost stock sounding at idle, but when you kick it, people know it's not stock!

If you go with the 22" Magnaflow (same size as factory) it is too quiet. If you go with the 14" it will be even louder, so I went in the middle and am happy with my choice.

Good luck!
Thanks for the FYI. I've heard good things about the magnaflow.
FWIW, I have the Borla system sold by Toyota on my '05 DC.

Sounds and runs great, but I get a pretty good drone at around 1800rpm.
Do you know the model number on yours? Was it 18" length or overall length? What size pipe diameter did you go with? I'm thinking stock is 2.25".

Thanks for the FYI. I noticed that's the aluminized muffler. Do you know what's the staineless steel one. I'm thinking it would be this one.

That would be the beast

I researched alot of input from the Tundra Solutions (shhh, I'm not supposed to talk about them, right?) board on the stainless versus aluminumized and quick honestly, the consensus was if you live in the northeast or have lots of salt on the roads, stainless would be a better choice. However, for those of us in the balmy south, unless you just want to pay more for a shinier muffler, then the additional cost is probably better spent on other things. But the part number you i.d.'d would be the correct for your truck.

Good luck,
How is your's holding up and how long have you had it.

By the way. I called one of the techs at magnaflow and he said I couldn't get rid of the drone. He said it how much of it was heard was a matter of the muffler installed. He recommended a 5x11-22 and a 5x8-24. He said all performance exhausts have a drone to them.

OK, you are asking for a roar, which is a performance exhaust. My Magnaflow does NOT drone at any rpm, just throaty and sounds great. It is not annoying, it is great and I have had it for a few months. Go to Tundra Solutions and search for "Magnaflow exhaust" and you will find volumes on this subject far beyond my thoughts. I've given you my opinion and you have gotten one from the manufacturer. Now it's up to you to decide what you want. That's my .02.

"Fokker out"
Thanks for your 2 cents. I'll use them to buy me a Whataburger triple meat. :D:lol:

Thanks bro! I'm going with the 18" non-polished muffler. Not to expensive and seems to do the job. Appreciate the help!

I just bought the same Magnflow 18" muffler for my 05 DC and a Magnaflow 3.5" tip. Putting it in this weekend so I can post some sound clips sometime soon hopefully.
