"Could be anything from a loose plus to your seat belt (like P said), to a clockspring issues, or even a sensor malfunction. Definately get it into the dealership, or have an airbag specalist look at it."

The airbag light came on, on my old truck - 96 Tacoma - and it was the clockspring ... Does your horn still work?? Mine didn't

The light would go on the first time the vehicle was started after the plug was disconnected. Someone with the correct scan tool can pull the code and tell you exactly what the problem is. Should run $75 give or take, at least in this area. Try calling a bodyshop, and asking who they use for airbag work, or try looking in the phone book. In the Portland area there are only 2 really good airbag specialist around.

Autozone does do a free diagnostic test.

If I plug the plug in will the airbag go off?
Not necessarily. You could try pluggin it back in, then disconnecting the battery for a while and see if that works. I doubt Autozone will be able to pull airbag codes, they are different the OBDII code (check engine codes). Typically you need a special scanner to pull airbag and ABS codes, which I doubt they have, but I could be wrong.

I had a problem with the passenger airbag light a few months after I bought the truck. Took it in and they replaced some sensor. Didnt take long, no questions asked....only problem if you call it one I have had in the first year.

Just fyi for anyone that cares but autozone does NOT do diagnostic in California because of some stupid ass new law.

They do however rent the scanner through their rent a tool program.
I`ll find out more after I figure out how to use the thing.
Any help on where the port is????
The port is right in front of the E. break

Autozone will still pull the code on their scan tool (at least in UT). But, last time I was in there (different vehicle) they wouldn't decipher the code for me (liability BS). Just get the code if you can and Google or it, or better yet search to see if somebody's posted them around here somewhere.

He wouldn`t even hook it up to my truck

Something must have happened

YEAH! like the dealers and shops found out they were doing it for free and sued them to make them stop

Welcome to California
the land of the FEE

More likely some dumbass pricked his finger while doing the recommended repair after they pulled the code and sued them
or some unscrupulous prick took some pos car in and had them hook up the scanner then blamed them for everything that was wrong with his car and sued them
or said "thanks for hooking your scanner thingy up to my car now I have proof" then drove out of the parking lot and purposely crashed it, blamed it on the free diagnostic and sued them

Whatever, I`ll pull the code myself and if not, try the dealer.
