I have a new double cab Prerunner. Maybe I got used to my old cars stiff steering. Actually I think the power steering pump was going out on it and it had hardly any assist. This Taco's steering is too easy. I'd go so far as to call it girly. But what really bugs me about it is when Im on the freeway and behind a semi the wind buffeting pushes the Taco around and I can feel it in the steering wheel. I've thought about adding a steering stabilizer like a small shock absorber.

????? It's a truck- they have looser steering that sports cars and wind will push them more on the highway due to a bigger surface area... physics bro... you'll get used to it. Congrats on the new truck!

If you are really mechanically inclined, there is a pre-load on the steering rack internals that can be changed. I do not know if it is even possible to make the pre-load adjustment with the steering rack in the truck. If you downloaded the complete service manual that was posted in a previous thread, you can look at the POWER STEERING – POWER STEERING LINK (for 4WD and Pre-Runner) section and see how it is done. It is in the re-assembly section, item 10.

Probably more trouble than its worth though.
