O.k. so I just installed the shims on my truck.

I'm not sure but if you can see the Craftsman 3 ton jack under the truck. a $69.00 piece of crap that I got 2 weeks ago. That thing almost killed me the other day.
Well when my wife found out. She made me return it.:sosad:
But this is what she insisted that I buy!

Yep! It's Craftsman's Aluminum race series jack!:fruit: :gaydumbo: :loove:

It was expensive for a jack. But all she said was Merry XMas!!

Now I can't wait to use it, to install my Camburg UCA's!

I got the same jack but I think mine has a better handle on it. Oh, and mine does not have the Craftsman stickers on it. Those stickers raise the price $65. Yeah, I got mine at Pep Boys for $75. Nice jack.

What is the lifting cap. of the Pep Boys jack? Because Craftsman has one that looks exactly like this one but is on sale for $99.00, comes with a nice padded handle.

Damn, you've got something new just about every week. Can I put a bucket underneath your ass as you walk, because money is must be coming out of your ass the way you buy things.

I'd still be careful with that jack... i know it's a craftsman, but I had a $160 aluminum race jack just like that... Rated a 3 1/2 tons.... Damn truck blew out the seals in it! Now it won't even lift my car. It didn't happen when I was under it, luckily. But when I tried to lift the truck off the jack stands it was no-go. :sosad: Biggest jacks I can find without getting a bottle one are 3-tons so I'm hesitant to try another one. I know the truck isn't 3 tons, but still... One jack failing is one too many to me.

:whatthe: Maybe you missed the part where I said "when I tried to lift the truck off the jack stands..." I HAD it on jackstands... Unfortunately, jack stands don't lift or lower a vehicle onto or off of themselves. Thus the jack worked to get the truck onto the jackstands, but was useless afterwards as it would not lift the truck to yank out the stands and set it back down.

OF COURSE I wouldn't trust a jack alone before that and especially not AFTER that. I'm just saying be careful with that jack, and maybe have a backup handy. Would hate to get it up on the stands and not have a way to get it back down. I have a 6-ton bottle jack I ended up using.

NO! You do! This jack is rated at 2 tons also. The $99 one is a 1.5 ton. So I guess you got a great deal!! Too bad we don't have a Pep Boys here!

So you're using a 4,000 lb capacity jack to lift a truck that weighs 4,700 or so pounds? I know the whole weight of the truck is not on that one jack, but I had one rated for 5,000 lbs ( I can't remember if it's 2.5ton or 3.5ton anymore) and it blew out the seals. I can see oil leaking out from around the pistons. I mention this because it was aluminum, low-profile (like yours) and has the quick-rise dual piston setup (like I think you have). Maybe I had bad seals, or maybe it's that design. I don't know. But now my $160 jack is just wasting space in my barn. I may try to fix it. Hard to just through it away. In the mean time I'm still trying to find a better jack.

That's a nice jack. I just got a new Craftsman jack too. It's a 4 ton air powered service jack that weighs a beastly 180 lbs. It can work manually as with most jacks, or you just hook it up to an air compressor and press a button to raise or lower the jack. I'll be use compressed air power of course. :D I hope to use it soon to help me install my Dakar leafs. This is about a $700 jack but I bought it off of an old guy that didn't really know what it was worth. I paid $100. It's new in the box. ;)
