1753 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Yakerat
Front right side has almost no support from suspension. it is about 3 inches lower than the left side. just got new sway away torsion bars. and my fabtech lift that came with new shocks is about a year old. wondering if the torsion bar is bent or if the shock is bad or possibly a bent frame. any help with troubleshooting pleasseee help going crazy! haha

you should probably start by saying how this problem came about...i doubt the front right side of your truck dropped 3 inches sitting in your driveway over night...

and from what you have said my first thought would be a problem with the torsion bar

ok well went and did a little offroading. i did a little jump but nothing big. slowly over the next 2 weeks or so, it sagged down probly 3 inches. i put the stock torsion bar on.

quick question: so i would assume that toyota would make all their left and rights according to the driver position. so if i had a right torsion bar it would be the one on my right hand side sitting in the drivers seat?
i'd be under there checkin the torsion bar, especially the key. maybe you broke somthin just enough that it would rotate slowly and cause that side to drop.

not sure, i havent really messed with tbars on my truck at all

good luck
i would definitely suspect something with the torsion bar...especially check the tensioner at the back of the torsion bar...like the guy above me, something could have broken causing it to slowly unload causing the truck to drop
carlsbad, ca?

you can get a rough idea of where the torsion bar is set by looking at the screw that goes through the teardrop-shaped lobe at the crossmember end. the more screw that is sticking out toward the ground, the taller that side will get. If the bolt looks like it's about to fall out because there's so much thread showing, then that's the most adjustment you can do with the torsion bar.

maybe it's a combination of one side too high, one side too low. the torsion bar is also hex shaped at the end. It's nigh impossible, but maybe you turned it 60 degress to far and the hex has been inserted into the LCA arm in an incorrect position? maybe a picture or two of the adjusting screws and front suspension
yeahh carlsbad california! ok im gonna get some pictures up here soon i need the time thanks for the help. also im liking the cragar looking wheels on your truck
