That works
i just tryed that but my head unit is different that looks like an older model , i have a 98 camry , thanks though
hmm i did it to my 95 and it was pretty easy. Since than well ive done more like take off the entire dash cover. Also had to find a way to bypass the pointless dimmer which i fried :) Look online i'll see if i can find something for the 98 but its prolly similar.

I guess I should've said that it was for gen 3's (92-96).
i just finished installing the deck, i had to pry the pannel off not the stock deck or the compartment underneath:rolleyes:
thank for the help
wow, i had a boro time with it.

my deck came with a mounting thing, but it was too big so i jammed the deck in their and just saw if it happened to line up with any bolting holes and it did so i just screwed it in there. :p

it was a guess and check game of seeing if it would stick out or not. but it fit! yay! took 3 hours cuz i lost a piece i thought i didnt have but saved $40 on install.
For future refrence, on the Gen3.....you can use the stock mounts for a cd player. I have both a cd player and a 5.6 inch screen mounted on these stock mounts. *stock mounts are the plates on the side* You have no need for a cage for Gen 3 Camrys. Also a great anti-theft feature....seeing as most anything can be used as a key.:D
ya, i used the stock mounts, i just had to use the little hollow compartment thing as a guide to get an idea of how far back everything needed to be. so i just bolted it up to it.
how do you get that u-shaped trim piece off without breaking it?
pull gently but firmly. Did the gen4 guy get his stereo out? I couldnt tell from this post.. If you didnt, you just pull gently but firmly on the trim. once that comes up, the ash tray comes out and disconnect the cig lighter and ash tray light, and there are the bolts that hold your stereo in place. remove those, and add the new one in, and reverse the process. The link posted earlier is a good thing to look at as well.

On the bottom right corner, put a flat head between the plastic molding and the vinyl trim. Push the flat head in, and gentley pry it out. Once you have enough of it pryed up, gentley pull the bottom edge out around the trim peice, once you have all the bottom out.....tilt up, and pull down. Its a very very easy thing to do, But I know whats up....your scared of breaking it. I was too. If you ever want to take something apart without worrying......get drunk. Or you can come on here and ask :)
