So i was rebuilding my 92 22re this weekend and come to find out the the cam lobes were wiped out on the exhaust side. evidently this was a on going problem cuz i got the truck and it wouldnt idle right and it had a spun bearing. It had an aftermarket cam in it. but i cant seem to find it anywhere online. so I want to put the biggest cam in it that i can and still will work with fuel injection. I also want it to hit hard and sound good. any suggestions. i have oversize valves ,port work, in the heads. msd k & n intake, header and 2.5inch exhaust. Any Suggestions?

Thanks

Crane Cams???

Not sure why you want such a huge cam. I would be worried about the valves hitting the pistons. I think you might have problems finding such a big cam and trying to get it to idle. Not exactly a sports car or a Ferrari...good luck!

A big cam will confuse the computer. You can put a bigger than stock cam in, but not too big. Also, a big cam does not mean big power unless you have the other mods to back it up. The 22R is not a high-revving engine unless a considerable amount of work is done to it.

Well said. It will basically run like shit...if at all. You'd be better off with a stock cam than something so big...and sorry...your 4cylinder will NEVER sound as good as a v8.

what kind of port work has been done?

do you know the specs of the cam that was in it?

If the cam was wiped you'll definitely need new rockers. and you will also need to figure out what caused it to wipe, like worn rockers, incorrect geometry, improper break in, etc...

There are a lot of variables involved in cam selection, port flow, compression ratio, other mods, etc...

check out the mods I've done to my head and the cam I'm running,

and I'll tell you the stock EFI can't handle it
