need some advice on a motor swap

hey guys i just got an 84 toyota pickup. i got it extremly cheap so it doesnt run very well. one of my buddies has an 87 chevy 305 v-8 he says he'll give me for fifty bucks. is it possible to put that engine in my truck and how much would it cost??? he says he can also get me a 4 speed transmission to go with it because i dont think that motor will work with my transmission but i dont know. any opinoins????

Check with Advance Adapters, if there are parts for swapping a 305 into a Toy, they'll have them. They have the stuff for 3.8, 4.3, and 350 swaps, don't know offhand about the 305.
All smallblock chevys have the same block so it should be exactly the same as the 350
if you havent yet you can check with northwest off road or downey off road. the sell conversion kits for small blocks and adapters for transmissions too

I know what you're saying by "the same block" but for noobs reading this it might be better to say "same block outer dimensions" as the blocks are internally different. The 4.3 V6 will also bolt in in place of a small block (or big block, for that matter).

Ultimately, if cost is a big deal, just stick with the 22R and get it running well. They aren't that bad if built properly.
