I have a 92 Camry DX V6. In the very near future I plan on lowering the car, but I am not too knowledgeable on lowering springs. I'm not trying to go out an race my car through corners. I just want to give it a nice low look, but not too low. I don't want to be scraping my undercariage. I want to do more than a 1" drop though. So, I think a 1.5" drop would be optimal for me, but if I have to go to a 1.8" drop I will. I have looked up a few on the internet, but I'm still unsure. I'm trying to keep the price under $200 or maybe a little more if I really have too. Here are a few questions I have:

1-Are lowering springs model specific?

2-One site made me think that springs are different if you have a V6 or i4 engine. Is this true?

3-What kind of things should I look for when buying springs? Do certain characteristics make some springs better than other?

4-Anybody know anything about these springs?

5-What springs do you all suggest are the best for your buck? (please give brand name, drop, and price)

6-What springs have you guys used that you like? (please give brand name, drop, and price)

thats a very good link. definatly search this there is TONS of info out there:thumbup:. most important thing to really ask yourself is how low and how stiff you want it.

its good to see another MD person modding. this of course means that you will HAVE to come to our meets.:D

Yea man! I plan to. I think you sent me a PM way back in Aug. 07 when I first got on TN. I still have yet to paint my car, but I got this great connection with this guy I bought rims from. He has a Scion show car and offered to get me a show car paint job for around $600, not including the body work I need done. But we'll see if that actually goes through or not. I have yet to pick a color but I'm thinking about bluish purple Kandy paint! Once I paint it I'll put on my rims, hook up my sound system, and get a pro tint job! All this will more than likely have to wait until it stops being so damn cold!

Thanks for you help on the springs guys!

Ok I know there is a thread that is pretty good at giving info on lowering springs, but I just have one opinion question I would like to ask. What drop do you guys think I should get? I want to drop it enough that people can tell its dropped, but I still want to be able to go over speed bumps with minimal or no scraping. My uneducated guess would probably be around 1.5" but I want to get people with experience's opinion.

Also, how long would it take for springs to sag such as Intrax and Sprint springs?

Thanks for putting up with me!:)

Damn...$69 bucks for the dropzones...I might just grab those just cuz theyre so damn cheap. I've had good luck with cheap coil-overs in the past. They cant be that bad, can they.

i dont recommend sprints lowering spring man. i had a bad experience with it. i put it on my gen3 v6 le, it was a 1.8 drop. i replace the front springs on first and it came out to be a perfect drop. but when i replace the back springs, it was lower the the front. i was like wtf. so i went back and told the guy, and he said that he cant do nothing about it. he cant exchange it back. so i just replace the back springs to my stock ones and it looks great with the miss match springs. haha

Since you got the V6 Camry get the Tein S-Tech springs made for the 99 Toyota Solara V6, it drops nicely and it works. You can get it for $165 from a good powerseller on ebay.
This may sound like a dumb question, but Felony have you done this yourself? If I am going to get springs made for a different car I want to be 100% that other people have tried it with success. Again I have a 1992 DX V6. Has anybody else heard about peeps with Camrys doing this? Felony its not that I don't believe you its just that be sure peeps have done it before.

Also are there any other lowering springs that would fit my car? (Please include year & model car, brand of springs & cost)

Thanks for your advice guys! But I'm still not sure how much to drop my car though. I want to drop it enough that people can tell its dropped, but I still want to be able to go over speed bumps with minimal or no scraping of the undercariage. Do you think a 1" drop would be good or do you think a little more, like 1.5" would be better? Remeber I want people looking at my car to be like "hey, I think that car is lowered" kinda thing.

Any suggestions as to the drop?

Also could someone tell me why the rear of the car is higher than the front?

Thanks
