ok looked around this website found some answers but still have some questions what other cars can i get the shifter and axles from besides a gen 4 or an mr2 as most of those around this area are pretty well picked over.
btw eye8pussies thanks for shutting down my two previous threads and to big bird yes i read that and thats what my dad read and suggested the swap. it only mentions the gen 4 and mr2 for the swap and not everything else that parts can be sourced from. so please help out the noob and don't shut this out.

you're welcome.

good to see that you finally did a bit of research.

you already answered your own question. gen4 camry/solara and that's it. the mr2 parts can be used but will have to be modified since it is rwd. and same with every one else, check your junkyards and that's all you can do.
thanks but what about celica parts they are in more of an abundance here in the midwest
btw where did you get your supercharger pussies? saw the video on utube. also what about the ecu can it be reflashed?
same problem with the celi parts- but the celi parts are awd, so you may be able to use the front axles and that's about it (but don't quote me on this one though)

in the end, the parts needed will have to come from a gen4 camry or solara for a straight forward swap. the tranny itself can be found at car-part.com for lists of junkers that will have it. The interior pieces and shifter/cables, etc are all hit or miss at the yards themselves since they are pick-and-pull parts

as for the blower, I picked it up a number of years ago from a fellow TNer who had to get rid of it. Not very easy to find these days.

And yes, the ecu can be reflashed...any ecu can be. But nobody offers specific services for our engines at the moment.

i was refering to the vehicles the tranny can come from. as eye8 said, gen4 camry/solara is the only vehicles that will have everything ya need(cept trim pieces), but many of the non tranny specific parts can be had from the gen3 4cyl or 92-93 SE.

i wouldl definatly recommend the swap. but i wouldnt do it because ya think its gonna cost 3K for a rebuild, because it absolutly should not. anyone charging that much doesnt want to do it. i had gotten quotes from 3 shops a few years back and the most expensive was $1,500. now maby thats just my area but 3K is outragous.

if your serious about this swap...hit up ecale3. he has some swap parts that he accumulated for an I4 swap that will work with the V6 swap. he doenst need them anymore and has been lookin to get rid of them.

good luck
well big bird i agree that a rebuild should not cost more than 1500 but i called three places here in stl and they all quoted me about the same 2700 - 3200 usd for a rebuild and reman torque converter. so i think it is some bad economy bs which = greed. so a swap is cheaper especially if i do it myself.
also would a c-52 tranny work with 1mzfe?
im willing to guess that if you get lucky and can find a 5 spd in a junk yard, AND throw in stock clutch and flywheel...you could do a swap for a lil under 1500. but if you go with aftermarket stuff i guarantee that you will spend into the 2000s

then in that case the manual will by far be best option...and the funnest:thumbsup:. the e153 is the only tranny that will work. even if another fit, the e153 was the manual mate for the 1mz through out its life.
thanks for the help guys goin to the junkyard soon after it stops raining and snowing here in stl. hope to be lucky and find what i need at the yard.
make sure you do your hmwk and get all the parts the first time around. i missed some things and had to go back a second time, the junkyard was well over an hour away which sucked. there very well may be some shit you just cant find and have to order from toyota as a last resort. keep that in mind
also how will I be able to id the right trans is there a number for type somewhere
thanks, saw what i needed to see. now its the sit and wait for the payday to arrive game.
also would a 3vz flywheel fit on the 1mz?

dunno if the 3vz flywheel will fit but i have a stock 1mzfe flywheel with a used heavy duty ACT clutch and pressure plate sitting in my garage, taking up space. PM me if you want to buy them. the clutch has plenty of life left in it but tiem just didn't like the feel of it so he replaced it with a centerforce... and a fidanza flywheel. :) don't forget that the 8 bolts that hold the flywheel on are different from the ones holding your existing automatic flexplate on - the flywheel bolts are longer.
uhgggggggggggg

ok went to the junkyard yesterday and found everything but the transmission.
now i need to get a good source for the trans, but don't know where to start looking.
