Hi, my Dad has a 2001 Camry and since i might be getting it as a gift, I really want to customize it (he has the LE 4 cylinder in silver gray). I love the car, but it's definitely not the coolest around... I'm going to definitely change the paint (maybe orange, my favorite color, but I would love other suggestions!!!) and I want to put on new rims. I kneed to know the maximum rim and tire size I can put on, please tell me what is is!!!! I was also going to put in a new audio system (if I could afford it), but I'm probably going to just take it it best but and see what they have there. I also would like to put a spoiler on it, so if you know of any reasonably priced cool looking spoilers, send me a link. I'm also definitely going to tint the windows, but I will go to a professional to get that done. Last but not least, I would love to put some engine modifications in this thing (but can wait if it's too expensive), so please tell me about anything that could get it faster!!!

Thank you for any one who responds; much appreciated!!!!!!! :)

I think it would look good with the stock color and some moderate tint. BTW, a quick search would answer a lot of your questions.
thanks. I need to touch the paint up though: there are a lot of chips and it's getting kind of dull.

btw, nice camry you got there. same generation as mine, right?
where are you located?
i agree with previous posts, leave the same color, and quick and easy mods include tinting, lowering it, headlights, as for engine mods checkout the camry FAQ section and at the bottom of the page there's a list of free mods that you can do to the "engine" they're pretty useful. Other than that i think that camry engine mods tend to get pricey so stick to aesthetics first :D
lol wow.. slow down and think and re-think what you are trying to accomplish. welcome to the boards.
Forget painting it orange. That's the kind of car that screams "ricer" - unless it's a really nice shade and you've got a couple K to drop on a good paint job.

Definitely tint it. Get some rims and new tires (expect to spend $800-1000). Give it a good detail when you have a free weekend. It doesn't take much to take a Camry from grandpa-mobile status to decent-looking-car status :)
The black halo headlights look really good on my car. Since you have a 2001, they are really easy to install.

My color is Antique Sage Pearl. Which is color code 1b2.

By the way it is a real pain to get the stone chips on this color. The paint pens on Ebay seem to work the best if you don't cover it in clear coat.

Thanks for all of the posts everyone!!! I still think I'm going to repaint it though: rethinking the orange, but if at the very least, just touching it up.

I'm not going to give my exact location, but I am in CT

islandboy57: totally agree with you, thanks! :)

would definitely like suggestions for a good brand for rims! (kinda new at this)

skuttduck: I really like those headlights!!!!! where did you get them???

I'm going to try to post pics so everyone can see what I have to deal with. It has a lot of small knicks here and there...

I'm now also thinking about a new front&rear bumper, and sideskirts, or just a ground effects kit instead of engine mods, so if anyone knows about any good one's, send me info!!!!!!

Thanks again everyone!!! :)

lol you won't give your exact location. You'd be surprise to find out how many close friends there are on TN.

try to find the TRD lip kit for your car. its super sexy.. and discontinued :( But if you look hard enough, a couple pop up every now and then.

you can easily turbocharge your car.. well not easily, but its possible. Theres a user here who customed his turbokit for the Gen4. its a beast.

good luck modding! and PLEASE don't paint it orange lol

I picked up the Black Halo headlights from Ebay. They run about $130 for the set shipped. "Camry Black Halo" should give you the headlights. If you don't like the black they also have a set of Chrome halo lights for the same price.

On ebay I also picked up the fog light kit, but had to go elsewhere for the additional parts, as well as updated tail lights. My tail lights have clear turn signal covers so I installed yellow bulbs.

I noticed that having the rear tail lights have clear turn signals, while it is subtle, if you park next to another camry it's easier to spot.
awesome, thanks :)

and Paul, thanks for the advice. should I get most of my engine mods from TRD, because I was thinking of using one of their suspensions to lower my Camry?
dude dont turn it into a rice please.
there's NO camry that ever need to be customized, u do it just because u want to...
awesome, thanks :)

u don't have to use all TRD parts.. I have.. only a couple compared to the custom or aftermarket ones.

I'd go teins on your car :)
