Need Urgent Help!!

1462 Views 20 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  SmokingTires
Ok, I am putting on my new driver side fender and I am having problems. The urgent part is I work at 8am and it is 12:45 now!

I am stuck trying to get two nuts off. The car is a Gen 3 (92') Camry. The two nuts are right behind the driverside cornerlamp, but facing the oposite direction. I tried going in from the wheel well but the intake piping blocks straight on access. A universal joint wont make the full 180 degrees. I can't find a matching wrench in the set I have, however I have a matching socket. There is extremely limited space. How can I get at it?

*I'll post pics in just a few minutes

Sorry I can't be of any help, I don't have a gen3 :(

You can see the end of it sticking out right under the red wire.

It has an extended tip and requires a deep socket.

How can I reach it?????

Anyone? Please?

I'm already screwed for sleep. I need to get this. Otherwise I will have to take it to the body shop an waste money on having them do it:(
Do you need those extra threads? Maybe you can cut it short with a strong pair of ***** and maybe it'll give you some needed room.
A small rachet wrench is what you really need.
I have a small rachet, but there isnt enough room to move it. And there is almost no room to get in ther and cut it.
THis is what Im talking about do you have any of these?

Yeah, like I said above. But I dont have any that fit. And even if I did, there isn't enough room.

AHHHHH!!!! I'm fucking giving up! Because I can't get at a bolt in the rear of the panel either, cause that's where it is smashed in. And I don't have time to sit an cut it. FUCK!!! Now I have to put the whole fucking thing back together and then pay the body shop to do it. Best bet they will just cut the fucking piece out and remove the bolts.

This sucks:(

Well, I guess this means 30 more min of putting everything back

*Could a Mod please lock this thread. It has no use anymore. Thank you:(
Aw crap. I gotta do the same thing to my passenger side. Now you got me all scared.

Don't worry. You'll be able to reach it fine through the wheel well. It's just the intake ducts are in my way. You won't have that problem on the other side.
i just use a 10mm socket and work it slowly, its a bitch but it works, from the wheel well
The problem is one, the set I am using doesn't have a full metric set, and two (as I stated before) there is no straight shot from the wheel well. The intake is in the way. I have a socket that fits, but I don't have a way to get it on.

I'm going to take it to the body shop on Monday, hand them all the bolts, and wait for a bill. It's all I can do now. I am to angry to fuck with it anymore.
Maybe, but I am done with it. I am too pissed off to even mess with it again. I talked to my body shop and they are going to do it on Monday morning. So it will be done and out of the way.

I just hope they don't have to cut it. I wanted to bend the other panel back and use it as a base for making fiberglass fenders.

Werd, cut off the extra threads and grab a 1/4" drive ratchet with a standard 10mm socket.

I'm assuming you've tried taking off the inner fender?
The extra section isnt even threaded. But that's not my problem. I have a deep socket that will fit over it fine. The problem is that there is no was to get to it. I would have to remove the entire intake setup to be able to reach it.

I keep having to repeat myself :(
Here's what I mean....

See to the right of the red wire? The intake piping is very large on V6's and has multiple stages. It would take a long time to take apart.

In this one, you can see the bolts very far in the background. But they are not at a straight shot through the side.

Yeah, but if you cut that bit off, then you may be able to fit a standard sized socket.
Dude, go to Pepboys, Autozone, or any other car shop like that and the rent the tools that you need.... they all have a program where you can rent auto tools and then return them getting either your money or deposit back once you return them...
