New EMS = No more goodies??

Say I buy the Hydra Nemesis EMS. This Unit completly replaces the stock ECU correct?

If that is so, do I loose all of my standard features to my car? Such as the Cruise Control, Check Engine Lights, Power Options, Gas Lights,... and all the other Stock ECU controlled Functions?

I want my car to still be my car, but just have better or more options for fuel and power. Any suggestions??

The stock ECU does not control your power windows/locks/mirrors.
I am pretty sure does not control the fuel light either.

As for everything else:
http://www.mrcontrols.com/products/nemesis.htm

Operates all accessories including AC, power steering, cruise control and ABS

Controls the TVIS, EGR, fuel pump volume and engine check light
i know you have this one jek, would you say its better than the AEM EMS?
I've never seen the AEM, much less touch it.
I have no knowledge or experience to base a comparison on.

I would suggest either talking to whoever you plan on tuning your car OR
if you are going to take the task upon yourself, find other owners that have done it and see what they recommend.

I use Bryan "NoShoes" Moore for my tuning.
He's base out of Virginia Beach and he does travel.
You could shoot him an e-mail (tell him I sent you):
noshoes.madpowaz.com
Va Beach huh.... Im about 2.5 hours from there, he wouldnt even have to travel.

One last thing... and Im sure its in there but I just cant interpret the meaning.

I would like to have 2 setups... 1 for daily driving nice gas mileage low boost 4 cyl car, and 1 for stupid mean 11 second nasty MR2.. and I would like to differntiate between the 2 in the flip of a switch or button or enter key on laptop...

is there a way to do this?
I believe so, but you would need to talk to NoShoes or RickyB (the guy who sells the Nemesis).
ok,.. well im gonna be running off the stock ECU for a while untill I can afford the Nemisis or AEM which ever, so it should give me plenty of time to research both and see what I want.

yes..its called no boosting....lol...i do this all the time to save gas....
lol ... true, but it is nice to have a "street tune" with a lower fuel pressure.

When I ran the SAFC/VPC combo we had it set up this way,
but it rquired me to physically change the FP and adjust: the EBC, SAFC & VPC.
... 4 steps to go through to save some gas, but it was a lot of gas! :)
i can swap maps in megasquirt pretty quickly (fuel req. maps) even when the car is running..... however swapping ignition maps is a bit tougher.....
yeah i dont know if its possible to do, or more importantly what it would cost,.. but I would love to go from corolla gas mileage to funny car drag speed with a minor switch or a few buttons on the laptop... even if i had to cut the car off for a second and restart it to reset the EMS or whatever,... that would be fine.
like this kind of?

320rwhp @ 17psi on pump gas
360rwhp @ 21psi on race gas

yes something extremely similar to that.... im not even above having a separate gas tank full of 100 octane,... although that wasnt exactly waht i had in mind... wanted to do it all from 1 gas tank.

but it would have to change everything over... fuel maps, ignition maps, timing, boost, afr, eveyrthing so that i go from 35mpg to 18psi and 350whp.

if you have that setup, please tell me what i need to do to make it happen.
well, sent rickyb an email.. lets see if this thing will do everythign I want it to... jek, what did yours cost all installed and tuned, if you dont mind me asking... i need an out the door price so I can get my moneys together.
If you buy the Nemesis Ricky-B can also tune it for you he lives in California and he will travel especially becasue he selles the Nemesis he is local. He also knows how to tune the AEM and install it. Tell him I sent you (turbonatormr2) E-mail him and he can really help you out since he is local he probably wont charge you the travel time. Or you can bring the car to San Jose are it's allot closer than Virginia. If you use no-shoes which is a great tuner he will charge you for the tavel time and so forth. Ricky-B is also a great tuner he installed the Nemesis for me and he also tuned it for me. Will be tuneing again in about a week or so.

From what I heard about the AEM is that is a great system but yo need to buy sensors and so forth and it's expensive but still a good AEM. The Nesmesis is a plug and paly and it uses all your stock sensors and so forth and it's allot cheaper than the AEM. I think they are both good choices but the most important thing is to find some one who can tune the one choose to the fullest.

Yeah Im going with the Hydra because of the ability to tune and such. I live about 4200 miles away from San Jose, and thats not possible for me to drive, so Va Beach is my only option.
