Hello everyone, just recently my 96 Toyota Avalon started acting up. My brake light switch went out on a long trip, replaced it and still nothing. I checked the fuses changed the bulbs . I noticed the fuse box was melted on the stop light switch fuse, replaced the fuse box and now the brake light switch works when it feels like.

Anyone else experience this issue??

Hey there’s Carlito, and welcome to the TN forums!

Can’t say I’ve experienced that. Sounds like there’s a short to ground somewhere.

I realize this is an old-ish thread, but I had an issue about 8 years ago where my brake lights went wonky because of the bulb failure indicator box, which is found in the trunk of the car. I ended up having to bypass this box with some wire splicing, and all has been well since then (but now my instrument cluster doesn't tell me when a light is out anymore).
