TORRANCE, Calif. — Lexus said its redesigned LS luxury sedan, set to hit showrooms in late 2006, will make its official debut on January 8 at the Detroit auto show.
In effect, the car made a debut of sorts at this fall's Tokyo auto show when Lexus pulled the covers off the Lexus LF-Sh, or Lexus flagship sedan concept car. The nomenclature on the new fourth-generation flagship is expected to be LS 460, but Lexus has not yet confirmed that.
The concept featured all-wheel drive and Lexus described the power unit as a gas V8 with an electric motor. The concept is about 1.5 inches longer and wider than the current LS 430.
In a statement on Thursday, the company only hinted at what to expect in Detroit, saying, "The LS will set impressive new standards in design, styling, engineering, safety and performance."
What this means to you: When the wraps come off the Lexus LS in January, we'll get a clear idea of the design direction of Toyota's upscale brand.

One thing I don't want is something similar to iDrive. God that thing's awful. I wasn't driving and I still had problems navigating it
. I find my Prius touchscreen much easier, thank you. If they must have that kind of system, have a separate one for audio/climate and leave the car/seat/security/performance etc settings with those menus and submenus.
I believe they are still working on the LED headlight thing. Just not bright enough yet. A couple of years and I bet they'll have gotten it.Tideland Prius said:
