Picked up this footage of the supposed testing of the "New Supra". Judging by the rear trunk body work it has the look from the previous car. The poster of this footage suggests the tester car was an automatic and possibly another straight 6 cyl. Personally, I'm disappointed that the Krauts at BMW are involved in this car indicating that Mr. Toyoda can no longer put together a state of the art sports car on his own.

He learned his lesson after the mkiv. Toyota execs said back in the 90's that while people love sports cars, they just don't pay for them. By partnering with bow they lower the development cost and risk, so lower sales volumes don't kill them again.

It's still a shame. A competent home-grown upper middle class Japanese sports car would be an instant collectible. Bonus points if it carries the Supra name.

The strong yen killed that potential though.

That definitely sounds like a straight 6 to me and as for the auto, the mark 4 Supra also had an auto as an option so we can at least hope that a manual transmission is still an option on this new Supra.
