Hi there, recently picked up an 06 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport package. I've been trying to figure out for a while why is that my truck doesn't have a color matched rear bumper. My truck is speedway blue, with a chrome rear bumper. The truck is a 4x2 model. I see some Tacos here that are supposedly the same 4x2 trim level as mine with color matched bumpers. Can someone give me a run down of the trim levels and the respective features? Thanks in advanced...

I believe the color match is part of the TRD packages.

The TRD Sports have the color matched bumpers, grill surround, mirrors and door handles. They also have the hood scoop. If you have a chrome bumper you probably have a TRD Offroad or an SR5 model. Either that or your bumper has been replaced.

if its a sport it should have had a colour matched bumper. previous owner or the dealership must have replaced it. either way the colour matched bumper was replaced for some reason or another dented perhaps?

oh i see, my model says "V6 SR5" on the tailgate. whats the alternative to the SR5 in the TRD Sport package? I'd also like to know the major differences between the two if any. Thanks again...

The SR5 isn't a TRD model. Its just a step below. It doesn't have the compass and temperature gauge in the overhead console, has a little bit less comfy seats, no bed power outlet, no badging on the rear sides and no limited slip differential (trd sport) or rear locker (trd offroad). I think it also has different shocks but I'm not certain on that.

ok, based on your description, i'm sure i have the TRD Sport model as i do have the Temp Guage in the overhead console...The tailgate reads "Prerunner, V6 SR5" and i have a chrome bumper. Thanks for all the help thus far...

Does it have a hood scoop or a large sticker on the bed that says TRD Sport or TRD Off Road?

yep, got the hood scoop, as well as the sticker on the bed, just a bit confused as to why i don't have a color matched bumper. is the "prerunner v6 SR5" normal on a TRD Spork pack?

Sounds to Me like somebody either

A) Wrecked your truck and put the chrome bumper on
or
B) Liked the chrome better and traded with somebody

The bumpers are tin foil so it's probably nothing serious. Mine took a pretty serious hit (rearended by a drunk driver) and it's been replaced. Seriously, the guy at the body shop actually bent the thing in half by stepping on it. They're that weak.

Rather than spend $25.00 of your own money on a single carfax report go to to the dealer and ask him to run a carfax for you. Also, while your there ask him to print a report of all the work that Toyota has done on your truck while it was under warranty if for anything peace of mind. Try to do it first thing in the morning when their not busy.

All the TRDs are first SR5's then have the added stuff I mentioned earlier. My truck also says prerunner v6 sr5 on it with the TRD Sport sticker. Just because it says SR5 doesn't mean its not a TRD sport or offroad. Sounds like you have a Sport with a replacement bumper.
