I have a 1999 Camry LE with the 4 cyl engine, 5sfe i believe, and based on talking with some people, I believe I blew a main engine bearing. So instead of taking the whole engine apart and swapping out the bearing (150,000 miles on the engine) I was considering swapping it with a 6 cyl 1MZFE engine. Is this an easy swap? Do I need to move any of the engine mounts? Will it bolt onto the same transmission, or do I have to change that as well since the new engine would have more power and whatnot. Why swap the 4 for a 6? I can find good 6 for $600, but the 4's run about $1200 my way (Boston)... trying to save money and get the most bang for my buck.
thanks guys.
on that note of saving money, can the main engine bearing be replaced by removing the oil pan?
