Hello everybody, I am not a Tacoma owner...yet. I am leaving for Iraq in 3 weeks and plan to have a good 7,000 for a down payment by the time i get back. I currently own a 2002 Honda Civic Si (picture below) but I am selling that here next week :(. I did alot of modifying to that vehiclewithout alot of planning ahead. With the Tacoma I am planning out what I am going to do in a much more organized manner. I am really disappointed to sell the car but I really want a Tacoma. I do plan on getting a 2006 DC 4x4 V6 but am torn between the LB or SB. Which interior is darker? Does anybody have 17's on their truck? I plan on getting some Mickey Thompson wheels as shown below and as far as I have found, all they offer are 17's for the 05-06 Tacoma. I would like 16's in a similar style if I can find it.

I also plan on lifting the truck 2.5-3" using toytec and AAL. I will get coilovers later down the line. I also plan on adding some Wet Okole seat covers, a CB radio, extang truck cover, etc,..

I have been going to the dealership looking at options, test driving, etc... I cant wait to get this truck!

Hello, MrGrimm...

You in the service? If so, thank you for serving our country.

Why you want to get rid of the Honda? What makes you want a Tacoma?

I just bought the same truck you mention, short bed, and it's a good truck. But I'm paying about twice as much in gas as I did with my old Honda Accord.

It's a lot of fun to get a new car, but that fun sure starts to wear off when you begin to make payments.

If you get a Tacoma, hope you enjoy it. If not, enjoy that Honda. They're great cars.

Best,

Count

Blasphemy all this Honda talk on a Toyota site!!! Just kidding.

I went fom a '05 Corrola S to my Taco and I love it. I agree with count you will notice the $$ difference at the pump, but for me its worth it.

Your upgrades sound cool to me, but there are lots of other people on the site that know more about that than me.

Hey, thank you for serving our country!!

Yea, I am a Marine stationed on Camp Pendelton

The reason for wanting to get a truck is that (a) My wife and I just had our first child and it is a pain in the butt to get him into the backseat. (b) I have grown out of the Honda. I need a truck for work. (c) My dad had a 1985 Toyota back in the day so Toyota trucks have been in my blood. (d) I will be moving back to Wisconsin to go to school and would like the comfort of having a truck w/4wd when the snow hits the ground.
Mr. Grimm, first, i'd like to congratulate you on having the best last name. :) i share it with you. also, thank you for your willingness to do what many (myself included) are not and putting your life on the line so we are able to enjoy the freedoms we have.

your choice of truck might depend on what options you're looking for. for example, the LB was ruled out for me because i wanted the Off Road package, which only comes on the SB D-cab. if you do any hauling, you might want the LB, as the SB is fairly limited by its small size.

whatever you decide to get, hopefully you're as pleased with it as we are. welcome to TN. :)

Right on, Devil Dog Grimm. I was once a Marine stationed at Pendleton, too.

Best of luck to you and your family.

I don't think anyone here touched on the interior part Mr.Grimm was asking about.

I believe all the TRD trucks have the same color interior.

If you decide NOT to get a TRD you will have a different interior, which is lighter than the TRDs.

I say you should get a TRD SPORT or OFF-ROAD. They offer the best interiors and nicest seats. You should also go for the shortbed. The longbed is nice but if you and your wife will be using it, it's kinda big and hard to park in my opinion. The shortbed already sticks out in some parking spaces!
Does anybody happen to have a picture of both of the interior colors? graphite and taupe. It looks like the graphite is a little darker. Too bad the interior isn't offered in a darker (near black) color. Black is the color of my current vehicle and I absolutely love it.

I will be getting the TRD Sport package and probably the long bed. The day I get back from deployment I plan on hitting up all the dealerships to find the exact truck I want. I will not settle on anything different, even if it means I have to wait.

You mentioned that you want Wet Okole seat covers. Have you heard about the TRD Sport Seat covers? I have them, and so do a few guys on here. They are sweet.

I would like to go to a Tacoma meet sometime to see in person what other people have done to their trucks. I have been to alot of meets with my Civic and that helped me in determining what mods I want to do. Speaking of, are there any plans for a Southern California Tacoma meet?

Thanks for your service! Anyways...here's the pictures you were asking for:

Gray (TRD Sport or Offroad)

Taupe (Access Cab 4X4 with SR5 package)

Personally, I wouldn't mind the taupe color in my truck, but the TRD seats are sooo much better, I don't mind the grey. Hope this helps, these aren't the best pictures in the world...but you get the idea. :)

The gray interior color is very light. That photo, IMO, shows it much darker then it is( unless on 06 models it is darker then the 05 interiors I looked at when buying )? I totally agree that they need to offer a darker slate interior. What were they thinking only offering light cloth interiors in a truck? Frankly neither color is going to be a good choice if you are worried about stains and such. Definitely get a set of mats like Husky Liners as the rug stains very easy.

I think the gray looks much better then the ugly tan mine has but that is obviously a personal choice. They do need to offer a dark interior option. IT'S A TRUCK!

I bought a DC SB and wish now it had been a LB. This 5' bed is useless when it comes to hauling much of anything. Well, I come from owning all full sized trucks in my life( 1st was a 88 Ram 50 but that bed was like 7' )so to me anyway it is an issue. Should have got the LB as that extra foot makes a lot of difference.

I see you plan on modding the truck up for what appeas to be some off roading use. I STRONGLY urge you to put Running Boards or some extra wide Nerf Bars on to protect your paint. These trucks chip something awful. Again, it may be an 05 thing but if it happens to you Toyota won't stand behind it so do what you can to protect your paint.

I will also add my thanks to those of the others here. May god bless you and keep you safe.

EP3 Power!
Ha, I had a 2004 Civic Si before my Tacoma. It was a fun car, but I have to say that I like the Tacoma even more. Having a truck definately has its benefits, and the Tacoma is an excellent choice!
Thanks for all that you do, and best of luck!

I agree, that's why I said the picture isn't the best :) The gray is actually darker in person.
