My 97 RAV4 has a noise I cant pinpoint at the rear when Im driving along. Sounds like a door thats not closed properly. I removed the spare tire and other junk at the back but it still does it when I hit a small pothole or drive on uneven surface. Has anyone else encounter this problem? BTW I bought this vehicle some months ago that wasnt taken care of by the former owner,if this was any other make (ie crhys***) it would have made a home in a junkyard by now!! Way to go Toyota!!

Check the suspension bushings on the car. A worn/leaking bushing will cause a rattling sound.

Sory for the spam on many topics :(
I have the same noise, but the RAV is quite new (2 months) Is it possible to be something like this?
I am not sure what exactly is "rear sway arm bushings"... :(
Thank you
