Just ordered some Nokian WR G2 from Tires Easy.

Arriving on Wednesday, so hopefully I'll have some mixed weather up in Boston, and can give a decent report. There isn't a whole lot of info out there on them.

I've got a pair of Goodyear TripleTred right now, and they did not live up to the glowing reviews I read. Winter performance is surprisingly lackluster. I didn't expect much, but still.....I've put 55,000 mi. on them, and I'm just about down to the wear indicators. The outside sipes wore out very strangely - there were bars in the middle of them, and when they wore down, it cut off the rest of the sipe from reaching the edge of the tire.

I just recently furnished the cam with four nokian tires. The rear are Hakkapeliitta 2's and the fronts Hakk NRW's.

These tires perform excellently up in Vermont blizzards. The traction and cornering capabilities of these tires make winter driving no big deal.

Traction on wet roads is also very good, not much of a difference from my cooper all seasons.

High speed highway driving (over 75) was fine, although they did feel a little spongy (lane changes would be a half a second delayed) nothing that can't be accustomed to after a few minutes of driving.

Traction on ice is about the same as any other unstudded tire, bad. The rears are capable of being studded but I chose not to, to not sacrifice cornering traction on dry and wet roads.

All in all, these tires perform well in dry, wet and snowy conditions. After having had them through two major storms I would never go a winter without them.

Yeah - the WR and WR G2 are marketed as All Season, but they also have the severe service "Snowflake" marker, which usually only goes on dedicated snow tires.

Around here, winter usually lasts from November to March/April. But winter can be anything from rain in the 40's (Farenheit), to blizzards and temperatures in the 20's. So far this year, we've seen snow on the ground about 6 times. It isn't enough to warrant dedicated snow tires for me - I just need something that will be better than average in the snow, and not wear out like an eraser in the summer.

Ok so now the report. We got about 9 inches of snow on Friday.

Drove to work and messed around in the parking lot for a while with about 2" on the lot. I wasn't too impressed with the traction in this small amount of snow, but my boss said even his 4x4 was slipping around, so I'm not too concerned.

When I left work, there was about 6" on the ground, so off I went in the parking lot. The tires popped out of my parking space with no trouble, no spinning or anything. I was much happier with more snow on the ground. Stopping action was very good. Reasonably good traction turning at like 20-25mph.

I drove home with a mix of packed snow and slush on the roads. Good performance overall. I got on Route 2 with a few inches of slush, and the tires powered right through it. Changing lanes through the mess was fine. Averaged around 40mph with no trouble. Got on Storrow Drive with probably 4 inches of snow and slush under me, and I had no problems.

Parked in my driveway at night and let the snow pile up to 9". I didn't shovel, and got out of the driveway just fine. I've been back in and out a few times and haven't gotten stuck yet.

So, these Nokians are way better than the TripleTred I previously had on my vehicle. I'm running them at 38psi right now, which seems to be pretty popular.

Once it gets to be hotter, I'll repost and see how they perform in the summer.

Guys, I'm looking for a set of WRG2 as well but I live in Toronto. Does anyone know any good places here that sell this tire?
Don't know if you've got them yet but I got a set of four P195/65/R15 for my 08 Corolla for $625 including balancing, installation, stems, levies, and taxes at Kal Tire. I believe it's still on sale till the end of October-ish, I got the tires on Saturday.
