OK - the intro stuff:

Owned a 93 Prizm - best car ever (other than my 73 Fury) No problems except surviving 5 car sandwiches. Totalled 12/00.

Had an 01 Sentra GXE, 01 Stratus V6 and and 02 Jeep Liberty since my last Toyota (Geo). I hope this lasts like the last Toy, and not like the ones in between.

The Skiiny on the new wheels

NIB 2005 Corolla S -picked un on 8/28 - Gray - 5 speed

Spouse nixed an XRS, but that's what got me to look at a Corolla. Othherwise it would have been a Camry or an Accord

This is what I excaped from:

Fricken culture shock to be back in a car, but driving on road is now fun again. Plus, I can pass gas stations. Jeep was 10-15 MPG off road, 13-15 MPG on road = 225 mi. range.

(lower payments and insurance helps too)

welcome to TN:D

how come the wifey didn't like the xrs?
Thanks

Price and likely speeding tickets. I have popped mine up to 5k a couple of times today (yeah, I know, CW says usually no more than 4K for the 1st 1000 miles). Anyway, it was sweet. The XRS we test drove was way sweeter.

Over time, I plan to throw some goodies on there, starting with tires and then... ?

Why not go wheels and tires, and then lowering springs...Right now it sits too high and doesn't look very good.
Tires I can justify, because they are functional and the stock integritys are crap from what I have read.

Wheels not so important. Maybe if I see a deal somewhere. (maybe some XRSer will sell me theirs when they upgrade)

Springs? Well. I would like to get to the handling of an XRS, but lowering this car further in an environment of tall curbs and at least 10 speed bumps per round trip is something to weigh carefully. I will probably do a strut brace before tackling suspensI am all about tangible performance, not so interested in aesthetics. So maybe, but not this week.

Btw, you said you had a Geo? Those are toyota's? I never knew that.

Hm....Other than tires/suspension, I can't really think of what else you could get. I don't even kno if they even have suspension options for you yet. Its such a new car.

I could say clear corners or clear tails but the new model has new headlights and tails.....You may have to wait for those subltle cosmetic stuffs.

Geo Prizm was a Toyota. Mine looked like a mini Camry

Geo Metros and Trackers were Suzukis

Geo Storm was Isuzu

I'm in no hurry to mod - I dropped a few Ks over the last year into the Jeep, and and ready for a little break

BTw, the 05's are soooooooo much better than the 04's. I know...My dad has a gen 5 camry and a gen 5.5 corolla. And the interior options and stuff look wayyyyy better. Also the gen 5.5 styling looks Much better.

I think the corollas should get like 25+ mpg but the sticker does say like 38-42 mpg but they test it in the best conditions...
Btw, did you off-road w/ your jeep?

Dude...That looks FUUUUUN!
Did you do any contests or anything like that? How do those work. You try to get thru the track as fast as you can?
Just club runs. No rallys, which are more dirt road kinda things.

On terrain like that, speed is your enemy. Speed = rollovers and breakage. The general rule is "as slow as possible, as fast as necessary." You just go at a comfortable clip until you hit obstacles, then figure out your line and run it. And yes, it's fun as h***. Scary, too, sometimes. Helps a lot if you stayed awake in geometry and physics class (or auto shop).

What about 17's?

Isn't most celicas like 215/50-55/whatever?
Dunno about ?MOST? Celicas

I need to keep the ride as much as possible, so I am loathe to give up more sidewall. I wish there were a way to test different setups side by side.
