I have an interesting story to share with the 10th Gen owners. The other day my future son-in-law and I took our Corolla iM's for a drive. My 17 CSM 6MT and his 18 ESB CVT. We stopped at some waterfalls to hike around when this 2013 Corolla S pulled up with aftermarket alloy wheels so I asked him what else he had done to it. He said nothing because his was special. I asked him in what way and he said it had a V6 in it. SO I asked him if he did it and he said no, it was like that when he bought it. So I asked if the previous owner had done it. And he said no that he had bought it brand new from the dealer that way.

So at this point I said that's weird since the 10th Gen never came with a V6. He said that is why his was special. So I had to see what was going on here. So he popped the hood and I opened it up. Much to his surprise he had a 1.8L 2ZR-FE 4 cylinder! He knew so little about cars that he didn't even know how to tell the difference. Then says, the salesman at the dealer lied to me!! I asked him how he didn't know just from the power and acceleration and over the 5 years he's owned it he never had a clue.

I thought this was hilarious. You can see his Corolla behind our iM's. I was telling him that he needed to install some Eibach springs with all of that wheel gap!
Wow! Never knew the 1.8 looks like a 3.5 v6.

I hope you took his keys and let him walk all the way home, he should ride a bicycle and learn more about cars, he either took you for a ride or he's really stupid, because there's no way you don't know if your car is a 4,8,10 or 12, just with an oil change you get charge more than a 4 cilynder and some shops give you the specs of the car or just by buying any part even the rims they ask you model and trim.

When I first opened the hood I started laughing and he didn't know why!

Ignorance is bliss.. I'd love to have lived the first 5 years of owning my 2013 Corolla thinking it was pulling like a V6, lol
I asked him how he didn't know just from driving it and he said he just believed the salesman.

After speaking to him I realized that he was clueless. He didn't even know where the hood latch was and the engine was so nasty. I took the engine cover off to show him the 4 intake runners and coil packs.

Last month, I went to Sri Lanka and while I was there, I saw some pretty cool Japanese cars. I didn't take a lot of pictures but it's amazing how many Japanese imports there are. I saw Skylines, 300ZX's, Celsiors, Corolla Axio's, etc. There were a ton of Kei cars there as well.

Here is a Toyota Premio which is normally only sold in Japan:

This is a Nissan NV350 "Caravan" and IMO, these diesel vans are so cool! I wish we had a Caravan or Hiace here in Canada:

And here are some 10th gen Corolla Altis':

And while I was in layover in Amsterdam, I managed to see a Toyota Aygo:

The car scene in Sri Lanka is very broad and a lot of people there mod whatever vehicle they own whether it be a Japanese Kei car or a Hiace van. It's very different from here!

So I found this 10th gen Corolla Altis which has a 6 speed manual in it:
https://hytechpartsplus.com.au/toyota-corolla-zre152-2010-parts-sale-2/

If you look at the door sticker, it shows that the transaxle code is "C66". However, the C66 is a performance transmission that was only available on European market MR2's with the 1ZZ engine. So is this the same C66 as the EUDM MR2 or is it a different spec transmission with the same code?

That doesnt make sense lol, why would there be a Manual C66 (with LSD) in a FWD corolla, it's not like it needs it to put the power down on corner exit!? Now if you were boosting the engine and upgrading internals and had trouble will traction in corners, then this trans would be ideal

Why are you looking at one? Looking to buy?

I was just randomly looking at different Corolla Altis' to see what features or quirks the other market 10th gens have and I stumbled upon this Altis that supposedly has a C66 in it. I still haven't found anything to suggest that some market Corolla's came with the C66 but I am still looking. Some other specs on this particular Altis is it was built in Japan, is a E150 chassis rather than our E140 chassis (similar but E150 is based on the New MC Toyota platform and has different suspension components), and has a 2ZR in it.

Farewell

Got side swiped last weekend.
I'm okay, just some soreness in my neck and back.

The Toyota repair centre said the estimated cost of repairs was over $7000

- Rear passenger wheel smashed into the curb, damaging the axle and other suspension parts
- Doors (obviously)
- The middle pillar (between the front and back door) was bent.
and some other stuff.

Looking at the 2019 Camry XSE-i4 (also in blue streak metallic)

Bye Felicia
Glad your Corolla served you well the past 10+ years and protected you on your fender bender...do the Camrys in Canada have Carplay like they do here? I'd say splurge for the V6.

OTOH, I'm wanting to get out of my Corolla but can't yet because I'm going into escrow on a house.

Sorry to hear about the incident and it's good to see that you're okay! There has been some really bad weather these past few weeks with the freezing rain and the abundance of snow that came down. Plus, no one knows how to drive here when it snows anyways.

I helped my daughter find her first new car. She graduated nursing school in December and passed her boards and has been working for a month now. Since she is making good money now she bought her new 2019 Prius C LE. She has wanted one for the past 5 years so she is very excited. That make s14 Toyotas between my wife, me and our 3 daughters!

We got 4" of snow last Tuesday followed by another 8" last night. It was fun getting around in my 17 RAV4 AWD with winter tires. It was something to see though as we drove 30 miles west to get her Prius C and they got nothing in that area.

I noticed a new 2019 RAV4 next to my 2017 in the same color and I must admit that I'm happy I bought my 4th Gen as I like the looks a lot more than the new 5th Gen. The back of the 5th Gen looks like it was rear ended.
