Just bought a 1985 Toyota Celica GT-S Coupe. will be my slow rolling project car for the foreseeable future. first thing is to get it back on the road. then I was looking at doing a 1UZFE swap. lots of Lexus LS400 out there for cheap. View attachment 320410

So, update, just bought an 85 GT and replacing the GTS with it. much better platform to work from.

I just acquired a well maintained 90 GT liftback from my parents. They've had this car for 31 years (205k miles), and my son and I just drove it from Montana to Florida.

5th Gen Celica GT liftbacks are somewhat rare (most were coupes). Enjoy your new ride. I'm partial to 5th Gen Celica's. We've had 6 in the family (still have 3). They were some of the best Celica's made, in my humble opinion.

I agree! I liked the Celicas before my folks got this one, but this one has always been special to me.

Our kids each had a 1990 & 1991 Celica ST while in high school and college. Then got a time capsule 1992 GT-S. But later acquisitions (restored a 93 Celica GT convertible, now has black & white leather interior with GT-S sport seats and a slightly custom paint job), then my son got a 1990 Celica All-Trac which together we restored over the years (generally when there were still many parts still available from Toyota) and he later got a 1990 Celica All-Trac survivor that pretty much needs nothing at all as it is also a time capsule). So the first 3 Celica's are now gone, the last 3 we still have. Lot's of fun!

My name is ZeK. I have a 2003 Matrix XRS with a 2ZZ and a 2003 Matrix Base with a 1ZZ. I rebuild Toyotas as a hobby and a side hustle. In my garage is a 1991 Toyota Tercel(Manual), 1997 Toyota Corolla with a rebuilt 4AFE and Stage 2 Clutchmasters clutch kit, a 2004 Scion Xb(1NZFE) with a Mcleod stage 2 racing clutch. I guess all I'm saying is I LOVE TOYOTA!

Posted this up in the general New Member Intro forum Introducing Myself and a 1992 GT-Four but thought it might be better appreciated here.

Hey everyone! I've finally achieved a long term goal of mine and acquired a 1992 ST185 GT-4 to replace (and upgrade by a damn sight!) a 1991 Celica ST that was the first car I bought, well, back in 1991! If I'd had the money, I would have bought an All-Trac then, but it was enough of a stretch just to get financing for the ST. I've decided to call it RORERI (the Japanese pronunciation of Lorelei, the siren of the Rhine):

Really excited to have this, anxious to have the work done to stabilize it, to put in the time to learn it, and happy to share it with others.



Yes, somehow this GT-Four has a turbo All-Trac badge. Because reasons I can't understand. : )
