Bought the Tacoma 05 D4 Pre Runner, in June.

Accident happend on Jan 7th of Saturday around 11:30pm-12am. *lost track of time*

I was driving threw a Stop Light on sudden slow speed limit paste, it was on Green. No one was behind me or side of me. Roads were empty.

Ford 2dr Ranger was front of me coming from the other direction, he made a fast turn, right in front of me. Middle of the intersection. (he was turning into a "supermarket/mcdonalds".

He pressed on the gas, i press on my brakes hard as i can. Boom!! I hit his rear passenger end side. After i hit him, i doubled check above to see if the stop light was GREEN on Me, and yes it was. I had two passengers with me, for eye witness. Drove into the parking lot after the incident.

Person Said "What happend, I had Green, to turn"

I said "Was it a turn arrow"

Person Said "Uhhhhh...."

I said "Do you clearly see a Yield Sign, before you turn"

Person said "Oh, im so sorry!!"

End of story.

He tryed to run away, or talk his way out with his own $. Made excuses, "i got into 4 accidents, just got into one recently".

Made a police report, settled. Now i just have to wait until monday for the insurance company do deal with it.

Here is some pictures.:sosad: I'm happy it wasn't "worser", than i was expected it to be.
Im so pissed/bummed/sad/depressed. Pictures speaks for itself.
(Passenger Driver Light Damged, Bumper Damaged, Fog Light Hanging and doesn't work *notice the tape*, and i notice some metal bent).

How much will the estimate cost will be and how long will it be at the shop? Im from Hawaii by the way. Thanks in advance!

Its still driveable. Its my only car i have. Just worried about night time driving at night. Because of the head lights.

Wow dude, sorry to hear about this. Good luck with the insurance co. and getting it fixed. Good thing it wasn't your fault.
I know how you feel. I recently rear ended another vehicle in my 06 tacoma DC. Front end is a lot worse than yours. The truck is in the shop now getting face lifted. The total to repair the damage is $3700.00. :sosad: Three weeks without my truck sucks.
that doesn't look too bad. they should be able to fix you right up, and you shouldn't have to pay a dime.

as far as night driving, if your headlights still work (i don't see any reason why they wouldn't) and are still aimed close to where they were, go for it if you're comfortable with it. pull up to your garage and turn your headlights on, and look at where your lights are pointed. if you don't like where they shine, try to move/adjust them until you like where they aim.

good luck.

how fast were you going at impact?
Thanks for the nice comments!

Im so bummed!!

I was probably going 20-25mph passing the stop light, but when i seen him. I immediately pressed on my brakes, roads were wet *i was sliding a little*. So i think i was probably in the 5mph range, when i hit him.

Passenger Headlight is aimed toward the ground. I have to lift it up, but i dunno how to stable it up. Because if i hit a bump, its gonna go right back down. Also my fog light doesn't work either. :(
Is your hood or side fender ok? The gap between the hood and side fender seems little large. Or maybe just angle of the picture?

sorry to hear about the accident.
Boomer, glad you are OK. There is nothing worst than a dommass in the road. You should not have to pay anything.Make sure it does not go into your insurance. If your truck is not safe to drive at night make his insurance give you a rental, that what i did when a young dommass hit my car in the back. Hope everything goes ok.
Sorry to hear about your accident dude!

Those pics show just how pansy the front bumper is on these new trucks. It doesn't look too bad tho, and the body shop should be able to fix you up back to new. Good luck with everything.
Thanks!

Called my Insurance company today. Gave me two options. She mention "What, oh no, thats totally his fault!"

1. Wait 1-2 weeks for the police report, they will contact the persons Insurance Company. And it will be all covered with his Insurance Policy etc.... Take it to the shop.

2. Go get an estimate. Pay the $500 Deductable now. It will go into the shop immediately. And Provide you with a Rental car from his Insurance Policy. Also your $500 will be rembursed, since its his fault. Everything will be covered.

But i do have the ploice report. So hopefully the police agrees with me, and i do have two witness.

Will my Insurance Policy will go up?

One thing I would ask about is are they going to use factory body parts for whatever needs to be replaced. I've been in a similar situation, and found that if I went through my own ins. co. they would have used the cheap body parts. Where if I went w/ the other guy's his ins. co., they had to relace w/ factory. They had a deal where if the vehicle was under a year old, they would use factory, over a year and they used aftermarket. Seemed like I had more rights/options going through the other guy's insurance.
Thanks for that Note!!! I will ask....
def,

Call his insurance company and file a claim. His company should cover everything(providing it wasn't a forged insurance card). Usually, you would give them estimates or you can insist on a specific body shop. A lot of companies have registered body shops/estimators that make the process a lot quicker. Looks like a couple thousand $$$ damage. Possibly less. If your air bags didn't deploy, that's good. Would be a lot more.

I got rear-ended on the freeway East-bound offramp at the University yield to pedestrian sign. Luckily, frame didn't bend and tow hitch took the brunt of the damage. Still was close to $2k.

Key thing, it is virtually impossible to match paint, let alone factory paint job. Any body shop that says they can do it is full of $h1+ and should not be trusted. Most reputable shops in HI will use OEM parts.

Good luck.

Any claim to the insurance company is a claim, no matter if it's your fault or not, rates will go up, if moneys are paid for vehicle repair.
Ouch man that sucks big time. :cursin:

Yep, I learned that the hard way a while back. The insurance company will get you no matter what.
stevenh563, I agree, I went to get some insurance info one day, they tell me that I have 2 accidents no fault, but your premium is still $xxx.xx, I asked why, they said "you made a claim and we paid out, no matter if it is your fault or not your premium will go up". 2 cars totalled by 2 different wrecks and my premium is high???????? go figure.
Insurance companies are about making money and theyll stick it to you if its "fair" or not.
Here's what it cost me to replace the same parts (as quoted for genuine Toyota parts):

Grill - $232
Front bumper cap - $201 not including 3.5 hrs labor for painting
Headlights - $248 (each!!!)

There are probably numerous brackets and such that will also need replacing, so budget up to $500 for these. Toyota parts are not cheap. And they shouldn't have any trouble matching the paint. I had both front and rear damage on mine and the paint looks perfect. Can't even tell what was fixed.

Also, don't forget to make his insurance company pay you for depreciation on his truck.

I wasn't so fortunate. I had $5k damage to my 6 month old Tacoma, and the person at fault had no insurance. He hit 5 vehicles and probably caused $30k in damages total.
