Can something go wrong it I do it while it's raining?

I REALLY need to change my oil today, and it looks like it will be raining all day long.

not really... just as long as you don't open your hood at all... and you don't change the filter... its possible to get water in your block when you do that.

but if your just draining and putting new in.. just be carefull about getting any water in there.

if it was me... i wouldn't take the chance.
What I'll do is I'll drain it now, and then when it stops raining real quick I'll change the filter and then the oil.
sounds like a plan:thumbup:
u've waited this long...one more day won't hurt no??........:p:
either that or u can do it in ur garage.....

Actually it can. My brother used my car for a week because I didn't go out or anything, and it looks like the car is either burning oil or leaking oil. I used the car today and I noticed that the oil light was on in the dash as I was driving, as soon as I'm on the highway the car was off. I had to pull over and turn it back on, I had an auto parts store right next to me, so I bought a quart of oil and put it in. The light went off, but the car is making an extremely weird noise in first gear.

I don't have a garage.

Our garage was turned into an indoor patio.

that oil light should be indicative of oil pressure, not oil level.
oh shit...that happened to me and i had to change the motor.if your leaking find the problem and fix it. i would also suggest a oil pressure gauge cause that light comes on when it's too late and the damage has been done:(

Well, I removed the drain plug and not a drop of oil came down. I removed the oil filter, didn't leak a drop either. I just poured four quarts in there.

I don't even want to start the engine.
wow, i'd be scared too. consider yourself lucky the thing even ran before. i had the oil light come on once when the oil was real low, to the point where there was no oil on the dipstick. do you have any idea where it might be leaking from? mine was from the back of the valve cover gasket, but even after changing that it still leaks some...:(

I don't have a clue, because I can't notice any big puddles of oil or anything where I park the car.

I will leave a cardboard under the car tonight to see in the morning if it's leaking.

I think it's just burning the oil or something, because I can sometimes smell burning oil when I park.
Fuck.

I just started the car, it's making a terrible car when it goes past 2 rpms.

Time to visit the mechanic.

If you have a leak, the heat of the engine will make it smell like burning oil. That's most likely the case. Check your rear bumper right above the muffler (the little piece that covers the muffler around the tip). Rub your finger across it... if your fingers turn black, you're burning oil most likely too.

I've ran 2 of my cars to when the oil light comes on and they didn't make weird noises. I hope you don't have a sludge problem on your hands :(
I really hope it's not.

I don't feel like spending a shit load of money tomorrow. :(
I overfilled my lawn mower with engine oil!!!!!!!!! WOW u should see the SMOKE MUAHHAHA
Do you see smoke from your exhaust?

You should have purchased some gunk off and poured it in before you changed the oil. Add a bottle of Lucas Oil Stablizer just in case with the new oil.

Good luck with your mechanic.

Didn't check, but I don't think so.

I was too worried about the noise. :(
