Hi,gus here is my problem.I rebuild my celica st182 end grinding(I'm not sure if that's the word) the crankshaft I put 1st repair bearings.Rebuild head and put new oil pump(from e-bay).I bought Eneos 15w40.After 1000km oil pressure lamp began to go off after 2 sec after I start the engine. That starts just when weather temperature rises to 30'C.Today I changed the oil filter and there was no leak from it(empty). What is the problem -oil filter.oil pump, crankshaft gaps or bad oil. When I tryed to cut the ignition cable and run starter the oil lamp goes off(warm car).If the car is warm and turn off the engine and started it again lamp goes off immediately. If stays about 4 hours lamp goes off after 2 sec.In BG forum people tell me it's the same with their 3s-ge engines but I'm not sure if it's true.Tomorrow I'll warm the engine and measure the oil pressure.Give me advice please -Ilove my car.

i have rebuilt 2 5sfe engine's. one on my wifes camry (with cheap topline brand oil pump) : her oil light stays oin for about 4 or 5 seconds after engine start.

i also rebuild a 5sfe in my celica with a aisin oil pumps wich was about 30$ more with no gaskets. oil lights shuts down after about 1 second after a cold or warn start.

coincidence ? i doubt. i think some are just ''crappy''. but dont worry about it. if oil light goes off and stays off, then just relax and enjoy the ride. if it blinks at idle, then check it out.

My oil pump doesn't blink at idle. Here in Bulgaria Original Toyota parts are little bit expensive(oif pump from Toyota dillership -1500 Euro....no joke).I'm agree with you about original parts-for future rebuild motors only Toyota parts:thumbsup:

actually, aisin is OEM, they build them for toyota as oem parts. oil pump. tranny. clutch cylinders...
alternator, starter... nippondenso
Clutch : exedy
Saves a lot of money on research, buy from others. pretty much everyone does it now.
before you buy a new part just research on who does the oem one and buy from them, you get a much better deal. no toyota contribution ( steal ).
i rebuild my whone engine and converted from auto to standard. researched every part and rebuild them all oem. works better than new :chug:
4 months work, but worth every minute !

usually ill just google the part ( ex: celica 1993 oil pump ) and a bunch of sites come up. then just shop prices on an aisin pump.
takes a bit of time, but worth it when you add up the savings.
i bought the oil pump from e-gay, i think your st182 has the 3s-g3 engine so im not sure if its the same pump than the 3s-fe, but you could always ask the seller.
