Hello guys, I need help with trying to diagnose what could be leaking and so far I think it’s the valve cover gasket. Could you guys give suggestions? The leak doesn’t create puddles or anything under the car, the oil pan is wet though.

It’s a 1.8l, 1zz-fe engine.

Give the valve cover a nice spray of brake cleaner and wipe off any excess oil until it is dry. Then see if it comes back in the same area. It most likely is the valve cover but it helps to double check.

i just replaced the valve cover gasket on a 2008 and tensioner oring (eng 104k miles) and both were close to brittle. so likely yours is getting pretty hard and need to be replaced. not a difficult job and lots of videos and writeups on this forum for both.

also when was the last time your PCV was replaced, its leaking around that corner and it probably needs to be repaced

Straight up valve cover gasket. Probably chain tensioner oring as well.

alright will be changing those soon as soon as I can

and not since I got the car a year ago, still have a lot to do on it. Car seems as if it was barely maintained even though I got it at 69k miles

One thing to note. Some people say just flip your starter to get the timing tensioner to extend. DONT DO THIS because its way to easy to possibly skip a tooth. A 19mm socket on the crankshaft bolt and slowly turn the motor till u hear it extend works perfectly.
