Have you had someone replace these parts and instead of using OEM parts they went with a Mahle kit? Has anyone had experience with this kit? (Mahle B32306). If so how well did it hold up? Did it fail early? There is only a 12 mo. warranty on this work and it was ex$pen$ive!

Or try FEL-PRO TCS45920, $5 on rockauto includes the pump O-ring and shaft seal. $5 regular inventory or $3.20 limited close out quantity. Plus tax and shipping.

Fel-pro always worked for me. I don’t use OEM unless nobody else makes it.

Mahle-Victor Reinz is good too.

verify your application on FEL-Pro’s site.

The kit is already installed but I am really dissatisfied because I wanted OEM. The mechanic didn't listen and I have nothing in writing. I would have preferred FelPro to Mahle but all I can do now is see if it fails within 12 months or 12,000 miles (the warranty on the work)

Let us know if it fails early. I personally got OE from Toyota, but I'm sure the Mahle is fine.

I think you’re fine. While I’m mostly Fel-Pro I’ve used Mahle or Beck Arnley as well. With either FEL-Pro or Mahle you might get
OEM gaskets.

Have you thought about DIY? Are you interested like many members here? This job is expensive because you have to tear into the timing parts. So essentially a timing job.

It’s too late but I’ll ask anyway was the t belt, pulleys and water pump changed?

Although the timing belt wasn't that old, I had it changed along with the other two. Looks like he put an OEM one in. The power steering pump belt was oil contaminated but the other belt (serpentine) still had some life in it; it was getting old so I just told them to go ahead. The water pump was still good as it was done with the previous timing belt installation. I was actually planning to do the job myself but I live in the city and I don't have a place to work. The last time I did anything I had to park in a parking lot and ran out of daylight so I had to rush to finish the job (cleaning the EGR valve). There was a DIY garage about 40 miles from here but they are defunct. I am looking for a place for future possible repairs where I can park for more than a day so that I can do these types of repairs. The DIY garage sounded great; tools, a lift, compressor etc. and a mechanic on scene to help. All for $35 - $40 an hour! Too bad they closed.

I will and if you don't hear from me it either didn't fail or I'm dead "whichever comes first"?
If you can remember try to update the thread even if it continues to work. I often come across threads like this that are years old and have no idea if the item in question actualy was good and continued to work or failed and the user just forgot about the post. It makes the user report side of posts like this usless without any followup, good or bad.

Actually that's a good idea. People want info on products like these (like me) and like me they post for that information. So far I haven't been able to find anyone who has any experience with this particular product even though I know that these types of gaskets are used ubiquitously for the classic leak problem. All I have so far is 'this brand is usually good so don't worry' statements. I do commend the people who are making the effort to give me their opinions but I am really looking for just what you suggest; updates on products in use. So, if it fails I will update here and if it reaches a year or 12,000 I will also update. It's probably going to be a year though.

Product update, if anyone is interested - I purchased my oil pump seals from a local Toyota dealer. These were installed March 24, 2007 (unsure of mileage at the time - I estimate it was about 130k miles) and are still holding strong today at 260k miles.
