Oil Question

I'm sure this is a common question but I was hoping to get some direct input:

I bought an 07 4x4 4cyl. and have about 1000 miles on it. Should I change the oil at 1000? Does it really matter? Heres the big question. Should I change to Synthetic oil? Is there a big difference? Are there any concerns I should worry about with synthetic. This is my first new vehicle and I just want to make informed decisions.

thanks,
David

what i did was 1st oil change at 2500. second at 5000.i plan on doing it every 3000 in the future. toyota says every 5k is good. i only do it more often because i have access to the shop. as far as oils go, the most important part of all of it is that you change your oil religiously no matter what kind you use. i use a synthetic blend oil. some people swear by synthetic, but like i said, the bottom line is frequent oil changes are key.
enjoy the new truck!
Search. Yours is a very common question.
You'll find all the info you can handle in a search -this has been discussed for low mileage, high mileage, mileage in between; dino, synth blend, several full synthetics, filters out the wazzooo, short intervals, long intervals, and following the manufacturer's advice.

+1000

But in short - yes, 1000 is a good plus to flush the factory oil if you like. You can swich to synth right away, or what I did was run one more round of dyno up to 5000 miles, then switched to synth.
i changed mine today at 1650 miles... i put in a syn/blend and plan to fun full syn at 5K..
i learned someting today!!! Oil comes out pretty fast... guess its because the plug is directly at the bottom of the engine.. i had it splash out of my oil catch pan... didn't make that big of a mess, but still had to clean up some spilt oil....
