Hello everyone,

I'm new to forum as I just purchased a 96 Camry LE 69k miles in pretty good shape. I try to do all of my car repairs. And all of the general maint. Also I like to keep a clean good looking car.

This is my first Toyota. And I am looking for suppliers for OEM parts. I would like to find online dealers that have good prices. And ones that let you search their parts inventory with pricing list.

Anyone have this kind of info? it will be appreciated.

Thanks, Walt

Thank you Tom.

I had the CEL come on the week after I bought the car. The gas cap did not seem right. So I went to the local dealer for one. Yikes!!! But wanting to get going on the CEL I went ahead and bought one. Then I decided to get a few other things while I was there. $230.00 later I left.

Bought new NGK Ird. plugs. wires, cap and rotor. Thermostat, gas cap , radiator cap. New antifreeze for a flush.

The sites you provided I found would of save at least 40%. If I only had some patience!!!

And as far as the CEL. A cheap repair manual said the 96 camry could have either an OBD2 or OBD1. Don't know if this true. Tried the local autoparts stores. Autozone, Pep Boys. and Kragens. None would do a check for free or without an appointment. Was going to buy a scanner but I now am not sure which type OBD to get. And I did not do a TE1 -E1 jumper. I just put the new gas cap on and re-set the CEL.

So far no more cel. Time will tell.

Anyway thanks for your help.

Autozone wanted to charge $170.00 to my card. Then remove the charge when I brought the scanner back. I did not want to do this and have to call or check my account to see if they removed it. I was burnt before so very skeptical now.

And Pep Boys wanted me to make an appointment for the next day.

Too much _____!

When I know which OBD connector I have I will buy a scanner. Which I hope I won't need. Kragen's has an OBD2 for $49.00 on sale from $79.00.

If you take your car up there, AutoZone will check it for free.

If you go up there with the car and they charge for them to check it (not you rent the scanner and bring it back, like it sounds in your post. No one is just going to let you take home a $200 scanner) reply back or PM me. I work for AutoZone corporate and will make sure that gets resolved asap.

And if I recall, camry v6 has obdII since 94, but the 4 cylinder didn't until 96.

Thanks Renmike,

Yes it was at an Autozone. I was told that they did not test for free. But I could let them charge my card $170.00. Take the scanner outside, test my car, and bring it back in. And then they would delete the charge.

I think that this is ok. I just don't like having things like that done with my credit cards.

I shop at this store often. They are always very helpful and pleasant otherwise.

My camry is a 96 4cly.

Thanks, Walt

Some people have done things....so the mistrust is there, but, as long as you return the scanner, they should void the transaction.
