DMattinson, I would just call her and use the numbers for reference and see what her response is. Good luck, CSM-H
I also wonder if it has to do with the fact that I am in SE Toyota region vs. the national

I have bought two from Troy but on my 2019 this lady was cheaper and will send you a list of all prices.

Thanks for the info. I just bought a 7 year, 100k Toyota Extra Care Platinum $0 deductible warranty from Jennifer for $1,040. First extended warranty that I have ever bought for a car. I don’t think it is a bad price. I have a 2021 Avalon Hybrid XLE.

I don't buy extended anything. My rationale is that the seller has already figured out the average claims costs and the necessary premium to breakeven or make a bit. It's like odds in Vegas. For what it is worth I had a 2000 Avalon and sold it for my 2019 Limited. Had 138,584 miles on it.

I track every expense. Here's a list of everything, and the date and mileage when the expense occured. Biggest expense was Timing belt change at recommended mileage. My total expenses over the 18 years was $11,774 which includes Oil Changes, New Tires, New Batteries. I would never had made back the money for a warranty even if I had it for 18 year.

Sorry guys but I have better things to spend my money on than a TOYOTA extended warranty. If it was a GM, Ford or Dodge I could see it. I had a Ram that was awful. I have had many Honda's and Toyota's over the years. Never an issue. Call it luck but I believe in build quality and you get that with Toyota and Honda. All manufacturers have their problems but my experience has been the Toyota, Honda cars have been by far the best. I don't dump a car unless it has at least 130,000 miles...(my '94 Civic has 324,810 miles). The only car I got an extended warranty on was my 2010 Corvette. Turns out I needed it. I get the peace of mind some of you want but take that money and put it in a special account just in case. Chances are you will still have that money years later. Just my two cents....
I had a 2014 Avalon with 74,000 miles on it. The sunroof started making a popping noise that turned out to be a $2,000 repair. I recently traded it in on a 2021 Avalon XLE Hybrid. I bought the Toyota Platinum $0 deductible 7 year, 100,000 mile extended warranty. Lots of peace of mind for me.

Everyone is different in their tolerance for the unanticipated breakdown. Personally, I would never drive anywhere over 100 miles from home without having Roadside Assistance Coverage, just in case. In our area, AAA runs over $100 a year and the Platinum VSA agreement includes this Roadside Assistance coverage, so in my view, I've already recovered 2/3 of the cost of the 10 year Platinum zero deductible plan just with the plans Roadside Assistance Plan. Roughly $500 gamble that I'll never need the plan, but over 10 years, $500 is about $1 a week. Extremely cheap peace of mind, for me anyhow.

YMMV.

Just exactly the way I figure it. I have a 2021 Avalon Hybrid XLE. I bought a 7 year, 100000 mile Platinum Extended Warranty on it. This is the first extended warranty that I have ever purchased. On my previous car, a 2014 Avalon I had to have my sunroof repaired at 74,000 miles at a cost of $2,000. I have peace of mind now that I have purchased the extended warranty on this car. Worth it to me.

There's always that chance that someone will benefit from that extended warranty, but for most of us it makes no sense. It is a simple calculation, done by the statisticians: what are the chances of certain costs to be necessary on average, times the costs? So, for example, if they know that on average 1 in 10 cars will need $1000 worth of repairs, it means that average car requires $100 worth of repairs. Now, would they sell extended warranty for that amount? Not a chance! They will sell it for $1000, with $900 profit. Sure enough, there may even be 1 in 100 cars that will require more than $1000 worth or repairs, and it may even be your car. But the probability of that is low. Yes, you do get "peace of mind", but they get good profit selling it to you. This is how insurance works.
