i have heard a lot about true flow air filters and how they are better then the trd air filters because they dont allow the oil to go through and stick to the (maf) air sensors. does anyone know if they are better, the same, or worse then trd air filters? should i clean it when i get it to because they are oil happy at the factory. opinions please.:confused:

I'm not sure how it compares to the TRD air filter but I do have a true flow air filter. You might want to clean it since they do over oil it at the factory. It takes a bunch of paper towels for me to remove the excess oil. They are also a tad hard to service, but you can use any household cleaner or non-caustic cleaner to clean it and takes a while to dry before you can oil it. When oiling it, spray one-two light coats on the red side at a distance of 12", let it soak and massage the oil into the foam. Remove excess w/paper towels and it's ready to install.

intake

I love mine and if you use the recharge kit cleaner cleaning is easy just spay on and rinse with garden hose.As for as drying I damp dry with old towel to speed up the process. It filters dirt 10 times or more better than any filter K&N makes.I had there drop in before I stumbled across True Flow my intake tube and throttle body with only 5k on it had so much gunk in it I was like no way.Have had the true flow now for about 28k and the filter gets dirty not the intake and throttle body like filtering should be.

The trueflow filter is far better filtration than the TRD in my books. I have run both filters in my truck and prefer the trueflow. The TRD just like the KN is just to messy and will mess w/ your sensors. I had mine MAF go on me after using the TRD for some 20K miles
