I know this has probably already been discussed, but couldn't find any info by doing a search on this forum.

What is the opinions on quality of Mod Express HID kit?

NO...it was not on ebay.

Thanks...

I'd say it's not bad for the price.

If you do decide on installing an HID kit, make sure you cover the squirrel spotters on the headlamps, otherwise you will cause glare to oncoming traffic and be potentially hazardous.

^ Can I ask what are squirrel spotters on headlamps? I'm planning to get the mod-express HID conversion soon. I hope it won't glare too much.
Not "glaring too much" is not an option. It should not glare at all. You shouldn't perform this mod until you know how to get a clean cut-off line.

Just yesterday I saw some cracker in a dis-tastefully modded Hummer H2. The guy had LEDs all over the car and ugly chrome spinners. But what killed me was the 8000K HID conversion inside those terrible round reflector headlamps.

Glare was ALL over.

Before you buy, let me know. I can get you a nice discount and you can still buy throught the mod express website.

I am going to get the 4300 kit with a relay. I will be getting mine soon too.

I have the ModExpress kit on my TCH. So far so good... knock on wood... For the price ($140) and quality, you cannot beat that., I think its pretty good. My installer checked it out and said it was one of the tightest and well built kit he had seen... and he had seen plenty of crappy stuff too... I'd recommend it

How did you get it for that cheap? Price is about 210 bucks for The H11 4300K ones. I'm interested in getting these.

Can someone tell me what's the benefit of having a relay in an HID conversion? I always thought it was a plug and play system with only wire harnesses and ballasts needed. Thanks.

HIDPlanet forums has all the answers. But I'll answer this one for you.

The stock headlamp wires are only built to carry a load of about 70W or so of current. HIDs on startup use nearly 150W. Frequent use of the stock headlamp wires with the HIDs will melt your harnesses and fry your wires. The relay takes power directly from the battery rather than through the headlamp wires. This way, the headlamp wires are used only as a trigger to close the circuit, while power goes through the relay harness.

Would any "Joe" be able to do the conversion themself?
Seeing as how I did my entire retrofit myself, sure.

But only if that "Joe" knew how to cover the squirrel spotters.
